Amazing!

I got the limited edition with the surround sound DVD and wow! Orgasms!

I had the album before it was released, but this quality is amazing. I really like Declare Independence, The Dull Flame of Desire and Wanderlust.

The Dull Flame of Desire wasn't too good at first, then it grew on me loads. The ending is immense! I only dislike one song, which is my Juvenile (Antony spoils it!).

Thoughts?

The appeal of this woman is a great mystery to me.
I would rather endure piles, gout, earache , toothache, backache, indeed any ache - all at the same-, than listen to her excruciating voice.
Non masochists only, please tell me what the attraction is.

Same here, can't see the appeal of her at all. Her elocution in all the tracks is crappy, she's singing English no? Don't get me started on her "writing" abilities, dear god, a 5 year old could write better. She's just scamming all these shallow people who think by liking Bjork they are "deep" and "arty".

I didn't come here to slag her off complete though, Earth Intruders is great... until she starts shouting random shrieks.

The whole point of Björk is that her stuff is a "mess". It's great. Better than clean guitar indie.

It's nothing about being "arty" (although she did have one "arty" album which is really good ). It's about being a bit different, but still being good. She must be doing something right

I'm loving Earth Intruders, The Dull Flame of Desire and Innocence. None of the others are really doing anything for me yet... gonna persevere though.

I love Earth Intruders. Will probably get around to buying the album in the next few weeks.

How crap is the stupid, pointless remix as a bonus track? Gash! I hate bonus tracks, remixes and all that garbage on an album. Save it for the singles!

I've given Volta a good listen now and I think it's a very good album....obviously not her best but there are some brilliant moments. I think I would have liked a few more songs like 'Earth Intruders' and 'Innocence' in place of the couple of less interesting songs. Björk's a legend and this is a good addition to her back catalogue....8/10 from me .

I originally thought that, too, but after listening (loads!) you see how good the upbeat the slow tracks are as a whole. I still don't like My Juvenile, though. I never skip it, but I could do without it - Just like Ancestors on Medúlla, but for different reasons; I do not want people to think I listen to orgasms!

Volta is probably below Homogenic, Medúlla and Vespertine for me, though. Those are amazingly amazing.

I really love all of the album (wasn't kee on a few of the slower ones at first, but they've really grown on me), but one thing annoys me. The CD version of the album comes in a cardboard case thing, with a sticker that keeps it together - I opened it up ONCE (to import the album to iTunes) and the sticker barely stuck when I tried to put it back on! I decided to put it under some other CDs, which helped, but yeah...a bit of a silly design choice

Only really listened to the whole thing tonight for the first time... and being alone I love it. Huge album, that, considering the tone of her last 2, she took a huge risk in releasing... the songs start off really poorly... but they grow... and the poor start of them surely would make people turn off after a few seconds... Especially considering the last 2...

Great album. Sorry for ever doubting it!

One of the few artists who I will go and buy without hearing even one beat in advance. Seminal, original, unpredictable, adventurous are a few of the many reasons. Medulla was for me a difficult listen but everything else in the canon is just great to my ears!

Strange cover - fold-out stuck together with the adhesive picture of Bjork - that's going to be a pain every time I want to get the disk out.
On first listening I've been a little bit disappointed - don't much like the male singer. Not a classic like Vespertine.

It's probably her weakest album yet - a big disappointment, and an album I get the feeling I won't ever play again. At least I can remember her for the classics like Homogenic.
