Casualty: Charlie, Maggie & Guppy
These three characters are my favourites in the Casualty cast, and I believe they are very popular with others too...
So why, I ask, are they the three characters seen the least? Since the start of the 2006/2007 season it seems to have been the Selena show and as much as I like her, I'm getting just a tad bored of seeing her week in, week out along with Nathan, the receptionist (I forget her name) and the umpteen new arrivals. Please tell me I'm not alone in my thoughts. |

Selena gets way too much screen time for my liking but that's because I don't like her.
I agree completely about Charlie, Meggie and Guppy. I'm hoping we might start to see Charlie more now that Josh is back...I really liked Saturday's episode. Charlie and Josh got quite a bit of screen time and it felt a lot more like Casualty to me. Guppy is so underused, a couple of weeks ago he had the stuff with Stitch, now he's vanished again

It's criminal...I also fail to understand the reasoning of why the new characters brought in to replace the old ones were forced upon us so heavily. I remember when Maggie arrived two years ago I almost didn't know she had just joined! There were no introductions, it was just straight to the job and she just gradually blended in and made friends. It was a good few months before they gave her a storyline, and that's exactly how it should be. |

Charlie should be given a storyline but preferably one that doesn't involve his annoying son. Lol.

I think they're going to find it hard to give Charlie a story... I mean he's been shot, held hostage, run over, been stalked, had an embolism, been married, got divorced, not sure what else there is!

I think charlie's absence is becuase the actor wanted to step back from the series a bit, afterall he's been there for 20 years.

Hi, I have been lurking on DS for quite a while now and had to join after seeing this thread.
I'm a massive Holby/Casualty fan and agree that Charlie, Maggie and Guppy have been so underused this series. Guppy has started to study surgery so hopefully he will end up on Holby because they will make better use of him. I have infact been very disapointed with Casualty as a whole this series. I'm surprised it got the BAFTA nod over Holby City to be honest. |

Exactly, Charlie's disappearing acts have been going on for a few years now and I can't understand why they don't seem to be able to find a storyline for him.

I like all three of the characters mentioned in this thread, and I feel they are amongst the strongest in the series. It annoys me when producers ignore their talents and end up focusing on Selena, Nathan and that God-awful Stitch creature.

I don't actually mind Selena but the other two you have mentioned do get on my nerves abit. But i do agree with you about giving them more scene time as Maggie hasn't had anything big since everything kicked off with Bruno and her daughter Joanna ended up in hospital and then the kids went to stay with there dad. Charlie hasn't had much either since the stuff to do with Josh and Louis and that wasn't that big of a storyline and Guppys was to do with his father and that was ages ago. They all need some bigger storylines to focus on.

The stuff with Guppy's dad was last series. He has done nothing at all this time round. I wonder if Elyes is going to stay for the next one considering they have underused him on a grand scale.

I think there could be a big storyline coming up involving Maggie and Stitch, because there has been quite a lot of chemistry between these two since Stitch first arrived and it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if the scriptwriters got them together.

He's not in the show for long anyway so would there be time? I'd rather see Maggie get together with Charlie. |
