1080P vs 1024x720

Confused

Looking at Panasonic TH37PX70B because it claims to support 1080 Progressive

What i can't understand is how it can support 1080 when it doesn't even have 1080 pixels (in this case a mesily 720)?

It supports 1080p source material via HDMI/Component and scales to suit it's native resolution.

The relevent word is SUPPORT, it doesn't display it as such, but simply scales it to the screen resolution - as the majority of flat screen sets do (apart from the full HD ones).
