What kind of show is River City?
Is it hard hitting like Eastenders or is it more like Neighbours?
Could it re-place Neighbours?
Would people on this forum (who dont live in Scotland) like to see it on where Neighbours is?

I think people outside Scotland have to have an open mind and not automatically condemn it beacuse of the accent.

In my opinion, River City has it's own vibe. It has a stronger sense of realism opposed to the other soaps.

Over the years, it had matured and strengthed as a soap and it's found it's special factor. It's hard to explain

Kelly's Aye has very kindly uploaded episodes of River City, so maybe watching it may give you an idea of what it's like. Naturally, it's difficult to be quite positive about something that your seeing for the first time. But one thing that I've always received from River City is a warm, friendly feeling.

This clip doesn't really have a warm, friendly feeling due to the storylines, especially at 1:07 onwards.

Yep I was laughing there when I read what you said cos I was thinking too with Scarlett screaming like a banshee its hardly the best advert for the show.

Ach people love a bit of yelling now and again!

But to those who are watching the clip, do keep watching. Especially the scenes with an older woman called Shirley. I found those moments to be quite touching in a very upsetting manner. I think I felt like that because of Louise, Lila. It just seemed like she was violated in some manner like George.

I know what you mean, Pleb. I'm not 100% up to speed with everything that happened with Louise and sometimes feel as if i'm intruding when there are posts about her. I wish I had spoken with her on here cos she seemd like a lovely person.

She was. Very caring and saw the good in George. We all teased her sometimes, saying she had a wee soft spot for him.
