I have to agree with everything you said mystic.

At first I did think, OK, it's not the best show to appear on but it's good exposure etc.

Having watched C4 and E4 - I do hope most people watched E4 also as there was more of Alex on this - I have to say I actually enjoyed both in the context of what they are.

Alex did as you said come across as 'laddish' and masculine, certainly stylish, he was also relaxed and totally himself, maybe more so than any show I have seen him on so far since BB.
I found myself smiling along with him as usual, in particular the 'Kate' - 'who?' and 'just laugh at all her jokes' advice - hopefully he has converted a few admirers who were not before and on balance it was definitely the right decision to do Boys and Girls.
”

Thanks anon, may i reciprocate the compliments by saying i agree with your eloquently made thoughts as always.

FQ (or anyone else who missed it), please do catch both shows' repeats -- they're on again tonight (or rather this early morning) on E4 from 2.25 to 3.55 AM, both shows running concurrently. And as has been pointed out, if you tape them FQ, you can FF past the rest you cannot bear to watch!

Alex was good. Talk about face (class/personality) in the crowd.
The show has some good components but the gross sexual stupidity by the gross stupid individuals performing is maddening.(It's one thing to be run of the mill, and quite another to try making up for it)
None of it rubbed off on Alex, he was untouchable. Just passing through, and with good style effortlessly.

Vernon is fine himself, but watching him dance is painfull and he really does not fit in with this show at all.
And should not really be doing it at all.

Well, you were right, Swing and Custard. Boys and Girls is quite possibly the worst programme I have ever seen. Alex is far too classy for this. Still, he did well and he looked great. Someone needs to tell FQ exactly where in the programme A appears so that she can home in on that bit when it is repeated.

I agree, it's Vernon I felt most sorry for ( IMO the poor sod, looked embarassed) , Alex was on only for few minutes, Vernon is doing this pile of crap for the entire series, poor Vernon .

Yes, I can imagine Alex and Vernon as working friends/colleagues in some more befitting location and surrounding in the past, then feeling a little embarrased momentarily upon meeting on the stage of this particular little gem -Vernon more so.

Mind you this is probably their ancient history we are witnessing now, like Roger Moore modelling Jumpers for knitting patterns.
Alex im sure will go on to be the next James Bond.

So far we know Alex needs to model Jumpers and Y Fronts,
All we need now is what Pierce Brosnan modelled
and we can point Alex in the right direction for superstardom.

Bl**dy awful show. Not my cup of tea, but I agree with previous comments about it serving a useful purpose in reaching a different demographic.

Alex looked like he was relaxed and having fun. Enjoying a tipple and greater participation on E4.

I like the running gag. It's now become his third catchphrase....... "Kate who?"

I'm getting a bit worried that some bright spark at Ch 4 might try to throw them together at some point to see what might happen.

Nice to see him happy and smiling.

Wonder if Alex realised that the Blonde Judy person was one of the experts psychoanalysing him on BBLB. I remember she thought he was eccentric. I did wonder at the time what she meant. Maybe it mean she couldn't understand him!....

BTW I haven't spotted any other threads about the BB psychoanalysts. I noticed recently they seem to popping out of the woodwork all over the place becoming 'celebrities' in their own right. The number of times in the last six months I've seen them on a variety of shows is quite surprising, especially the dark haired lady who seems to appear regularly on sketch shows as a psychoanalyst! I think I also spotted her on an advert..... maybe I dreamed it! Psychoanalyse that!

My mother is over 80 and loves Richard and Judy. She also loves Alex, perhaps that's the next demographic he should be aiming for....

Any further suggestions.....

It was probably a wise move for Alex to do it to raise his profile with lad/ladette/loaded viewers, and he did good and proved popular with the audience. Him and Vernon hit it off well, and I can imagine those two as a double act - a sort of goodlooking wise cracker and clown pairing.

I noticed Chris Evans there as well, maybe he spotted some potential.

Vernon had a head start on Alex being from a show-biz family

His dad is wheelchair bound Phoenix Nights club impressario Peter Kay

I dont want to be too critical of the show, as I am not part of the demographic it is aimed at. My opinion though, is its absolute pants. More to do with the tacky behaviour of the contestants than any thing else. I only saw a bit of Alex, turned off at the adverts, couldn't stand the show anymore. From what I did see, he was doing ok. Seemed at ease with the mob and Vernon.

Looking forward to RR, much more my cup of tea.

PS...to the few people still watching the salon.....did you notice the little VT with John's tongue down the previous weeks winners throat. YUK

Vernons 'dad' : "And I realised I could not carry on pretending
that Vernon isn't my son, even though he's part of a new low in television" - hilarious!

Yes, Alex did ok, he shouted and punched the air in true laddish fashion, in the appropriate places as per script, in another one of Chris Evan's flops.
I don't go for this idea that he was doing the show to help out a mate. I think it was just business, however now might be a good time for Alex to start thinking for himself and not do everything his agent tells him to do.

Alex was excellent I thought. I quite like the cheeky girls as well.

As for the programme, I don't understand why they didn't go the whole hog and get Jonny and Alison to present it. They'd be in their element. Jonny could lose a few clothes every week, while encouraging everyone else to do the same, with a grand finale of everyone naked on the final show. Including Alison!! (I hope Chris Evans isn't reading this, he'll probably think its a masterstroke!)

I couldn't help wondering where they find enough masochists to make up the audience every week? You'd only go on it surely if you knew you were really good looking - yet hardly anyone in the audience was even average! And they all looked really gutted when informed that they were mingers! Why didn't their friends warn them.........or check a mirror perhaps? Am I missing something. Were they paid loads to be there? Its the only explanation I can think of.

That paricular part of the show really exploits people's capacity for self dilusion......

It must do. I suppose everyone imagines that they're a bit better looking then they really are - but not to that degree surely! Its baffling.

Sorry Mystic. the end doesn't always justify the means.
I'm not getting at Alex who I'm sure was excellent, I just believe he was ill advised to appear in such a degrading show.

As for attempting another showing
- I'd rather eat Jonny's toenails!
