Hi, I was wondering if anyone has had problems with one of these sets.

The unit has a PHI HONG power supply which has somewhat gone bang. I have tried to source a replacement from uk distributor but to no avail. PART number psm210-417. so anyone with any info on where to source please.

when you say you lost the reciept , how did you pay for it , if it shows up on a card statement of some sort then you could use that , as for the power supply , i cant help there

Paid by debit card but as there was other items on the reciept they wont take a copy of the statement. Interestingly It could only have been bought from tesco....... So looks like im stuck with a rather large but useless LCD unit with no power supply LOL.

I think that a credit card statement is all that's legally required as proof of purchase,

are they saying that because you bought some groceries and the tv at the same time, the total is more than the TV price alone, thus it's not proof that the credit card statement shows the TV purchase?

seems pretty flimsy excuse really....

also they're supposed to take your name and address for tv licencing (they're legally obliged) so can't they check their licence records on the date you say you purchased it? - that's proof surely?

As far as I'm aware it doesn't matter if there's more than one item on the receipt?, why should it - it's proof of the exact day and time you bought it, and they should be able to easily trace it from that.

I would suggest you contact your local trading standards office and see what they say?.

What Nigel said, don't lie down and let Tesco walk all over you, the recept means nothing & given it's some no name brand that only tesco probably sell keep on pushing, you will win.

Yes, it's pathetic! - they should really be fined far more heavily for this, but they don't even get fined per store, but as the whole chain, and only for a single offence every now and again.

Interestingly when I bought a Freeview box from Asda they did take the details.

Tesco automatically collect your name and address when you use your Clubcard. If you don't use a Clubcard, a piece of paper is automatically produced from the till to capture the legally required details. As ASDA don't have a loyalty card they have to collect all the relevant details manually.

I assume you (clivea2003) used a Clubcard when making your purchase as the details were not captured manually. If I am correct, then your purchases will probably be logged somewhere in your Clubcard records. I suggest you contact Tesco Customer Services (0800 505555) or Clubcard Helpline (0800 591688). Both are open tomorrow (6pm and 5pm respectively). Hope this helps.

Clubcard! - that could be the answer!

So instead of giving Tescos tons of info on our shopping habits, it could be used to prove the purchase,

Nice idea.

There have been a lot of Bauers selling on eBay, maybe that's why Tesco insist on proof that it was bought from them.
