I hadn't heard that coolmum, it would explain a lot ........

Is Katie the back stabbing one who looks like a horse?

I think I read it somewhere after the winner had been announced for Apprentice 2.
Basically it was something to do with the job involving liasing with councils and recycling old computer equipment and Ruth felt that the project was not a year long one and that it was a 'dead ender' so she declined the job.
Can't remember if I read it on the internet or in a paper (I don't read red tops so wasn't one of those!!)

Don't know if anyone will remember this but a few years ago there was a short series which followed a group of public school t*ssers through Sandhurst, whilst they learned how to apply skills acquired as school prefects to keep in check a group of squaddies who all hated their guts.

I swear I think Katie might have been one of them - does anyone know ??

Well, she was certainly loyal to Paul on the French task. She continued to claim he was a good PM even after Sir Alan had pointed out his mistakes.

She's honest, too. I don't think she's ever lied. The only time she came close was this week, saying that Sir Alan had said someone was feeding Adam lines. And that might have been true but cut from the edit, and if it wasn't, may have been Kate's misinterpretation of what Sir Alan did say, and an honest mistake rather than a lie.

She has exceptional ability, as pretty much all the candidates accept. She did well this week, for example. She had what was probably the best performance as PM this series.

She's good at man management, too. Again see how well she did as PM; everyone was singing her praises afterwards.

She has some unpleasant traits, but don't let that blind you to her virtues.

Yes, that's the beast

Sir Alan asked her outright if she was honest. She didn't/couldn't answer. (so I suppose she didn't lie)
She did lie to the people in the house about what SA had said about herself and Adam.
As for man management, she'd rub everyone up the wrong way and people would never go the extra mile for her. They'd have to put a turnstile on her department door.
The only person she'd be loyal to is herself. Paul was probably the first man to take an interest in her and she wanted to cling to the novelty.
Added to that she'd never do what she was told to by SA because she would always think she knew better.

There is no way Sir Alan would employ a horse!!

Actually she nods slightly as she waits for him to finish. When she's sure he's finished the question, she gives quite a long answer in which she reiterates her honesty.

I've already explained how that's supposition.

That simply does not match what we've seen in the show. She was a great PM in week 2. There are people she doesn't rate, eg Adam, and she's pretty open about that so now he hates her. People she respects, like Kristina, she could still work well with despite personal difficulties.

Rubbish. A nasty bit of character assassination with no evidence.

Supposition. That's not evidence, that's you making stuff up about someone you don't like.

She isn't unstable. She has the capacity to be manipulative, unpleasant, ruthless, and she's highly arrogant. But that's not the same thing as being 'unstable'. She took Adam to pieces in the boadroom, without losing her cool.

Hardly, she was screaming like a banshee on my telly

Sir A won't want to employ her. Did you watch his eyes when she was letting fly in the Boardroom?

He clearly doesn't like her. Who would?

She makes good t.v, she is bitchy etc... I don't think she will be employed but there is always a chance. To me, she is a character and nothing more, she is not here for a career, she is here for a profile.

Incidentally, a term that went out with the Ark. In the present century, it's people management that counts. Oh, and Katie is very, very good at that.

Indeed, all true. There is nothing so awful that someone will not write it about her, whether it is true or not.

If an ignorant thick toff from a home counties bubble like her wins, I seriously fail to see how the series can continue. She's only got as far as she has though backstabbing and manipulation in order to remove her biggest threat (with regards to business skills) - I can't see how any company could benefit from employing her.

As they said of Mussolini, he might have been a ruthless fascist but at least he made the trains run on time.

Katie is hardly Mussolini. That kind of "guilt by association" tactic does you no credit.

And for devious manipulation, you should see Simon for stitching up Andy as unwilling PM in ep1. He was quite clear about what he was doing. A

Or Kristina for playing Adam and Katie off each other. Adam thought Kristina was his ally - he didn't know she was with Katie toasting his downfall. Nor did Katie know it was Kristina who had told Sir Alan all about her personal life - she was livid when she found out, from Sir Alan. She had been blaming Adam - partly because Adam had agreed with Kristina to keep secret what they had done.

I don't believe I was saying that Katie is Mussolini, the phrase about Mussolini making the trains run on time is one commonly used in an humorous context when referring to a person/situation whose majorly negative impact is supposedly ameliorated by a minor positive trait.

And I agree with you about the behaviour of the others, indeed I think it's to Katie's credit that she comes off as being by far the most objectionable in such a crowded and challenging field. Go Katie!!

Don't know about what would happen if she wins, but I can see her getting together with a similar, ruddy-cheeked, military school knob head, resembling her dearly departed Paul ( has James Hewitt got a current bit of totty?) and raising a small private army of equally red faced offspring with her Village of the Damned blue eyes.

Management is an art which involves a variety of techniques and strategies to get things done and keep people working and happy. You can call it manipulation if you like. Managers have to influence, control, steer people. It's no big secret.

Katie gets sod all done and rubs people up the wrong way. Thus by your own definition, that's not management.

She doesn't rub people up the wrong way - she talks to the camera and upsets people watching but they don't have a vote and she will never meet them. In terms of the house she has been getting on with people including until recently her main rival Kristina . The only people she didn't get on with are the people she identified as complately hopeless - most of whom SAS has taken a similar view on.

The question is if SAS wants someone that un PC, whether she would look like evidence he should have voted for Ruth and whether she is in fact as good or better than the other real contenders.
