My point is that it depends how you measure success. I would far rather be generally well liked and live a quite life than disliked by the majority and have a media career.
Adam went into the show to get a job not a media career, so I don't expect he really could care less on that front. Furthermore any media exposure Katie gets will be very much short term in all likelihood.
