Recording on EP Mode.. Good Quality?
Kargo

I'm Planning on Recording the Eurovision Semi-Final show and Final shows. I have 2 two hour dvd disks ready but as some know, the contest is over 3 hours long.

The only way to get the contest onto one of the disks is by recording into EP mode which gives me up to 4 hours recording time.. LP mode would be a bit risky as the contest is known to overrun.

So my question is.. How is the Quality of EP Mode? is it still very much viewable and can the sound be clearly heard?

The sound will be fine, and the picture should be acceptable - I can't say I've ever used EP mode, but I know plenty of people who do.

Try it before hand and see what you think?.

I have an older Denon DVD player which struggles to play recording which are overlong although they play fine on the Pio DVDR used to make the recording and on other newer, cheapo players.

Er, why not stick it in ep mode and try it? Any tv programme will do. After youv'e recorded you can view it and see what you think. I always use ep, for everything and am completely happy with it (Liteon 5006).

ive always found that recording in EP mode usually gives a picture quality similar to a good "video" recording, and the sound is fine. i hope that helps a bit.

The bit-rate it is broadcast at is not that high anyway. The PQ will be fine. Recording on SP is normally overkill seeing as the channels are not breadcast in quality that good anyway.

EP Mode is usually a reasonable VHS quality. I use it to record long sporting events and it's acceptable to watch.
If you're recording something to keep and watch over and over again I would use SP mode even though it requires more discs.
