Every week I have cringed at Katie and her malicious comments.

She is either playing a villain deliberately or she is that damn stupid that she has no idea what an idiot she is making of herself.

However, last night she offended me more than ever before.

I'm an northerner but have lived in the south of England for a number of years.

I don't know whether southerners living in the north experience these sorts of stupid comments but too often down here you hear disparaging remarks about anyone who comes from the north. It just depresses me.

In Katie's case though there is nothing i'd like more than to see her tied to a lampost in the Bigg Market in Newcastle on a Friday night.

To be honest, I'm a London-born southerner and have never heard anyone slag off 'Northerners' the way Katie has. Sometimes, among friends, someone might make a jokily disparaging comment - though just as often they'll originate from the other direction (I work with people from all over the UK) - but I'm really not aware of any genuine regional venom. Perhaps it's just the company I keep.

Regionalism at its worst. I think they would be asking questions about it in parliament if they didn't have some other things to do today.

As a southerner who has lived up north in the past, unfortunately I have to say that it does work the other way around as well. A lot.

Indeed I was nearly "kicked in" once for the sin of talking with a Southern accent. But don't get me wrong, this is not a generalisation about all people from Northern England. Far from it...I met a lot of lovely people. But there is always a few wherever you go...

To add to my previous post, Swampster is right. I've never found any regionalism in London at all (only in football terms). I think it must be to do with the outlook of the particular city or region.

I think what I thought was worse on last night's show as when she said Adam can go home and meet his Northern 'chums'.

It was the 'chums' word that got me. It was as though Northerners are little more than stupid, quaint animals, and 'chums' was a very patronising way of putting it.

And I've never heard a Northerner refer to us Southerners as shandy drinking poofs or Southern Softies oh no.

She's trying to make a name for herself as sadly the contestants are far more media savvy than they used to be.

Although I may have jokingly refered to our latitudinally challenged friends as 'Soft southern poofters' on occasion I wouldn't be daft enough to make a remark on national television.

That, in and of itself, is more than telling on Katies part.

Ah...you could be right there. It's become very common now for people to make a name for themselves on reality shows by being particularly nasty....and they are then rewarded by offers of more reality shows, or offers of dish the dirt exclusives in the trashy celeb mags like 'Heat' and the like.

That's a very cynical way of seeing things but nowadays it would be naive to rule out that suggestion.

Nowadays reality contestants can be seen going out of their way to be nasty because they know that there's a good chance that they'll be rewarded for it, be it with financial offers or opportunities for even more exposure.

I'm a northerner, it doesn't bother me. She only made herself look like an arse.

Report it to OFCOM. I'm sure it will beat Jade's comments about Shilpa!

I think it's just a class thing with her. She would have been equally disparaging about a cocney if they'd crossed her. She's a fine example of a brood mare and should be locked up in a stable.

After all, the only 'friend' she had was that other upper middle class ****...........they suited each other perfectly. God she's ugly too !!!!!!

She belongs in a stable for more reasons than one...

As a northerner, born and bred, I would say that there are shallow and ignorant people everyhwere.

Katie is just one of them.

To the OP, I am from South London and have to agree with The Swampster - I've NEVER encountered it and certainly don't think it. I was actually very offended by her comments. She showed herself up to be a complete idiot.

As a Southerner , I've never heard any comments against Northerners from people around me. Maybe it's just a snobbish thing.

Surely she's saying the most appalling things to raise her profile for whatever business enterprise she's got planned when she leaves. Her notoriety = publicity. But it does make my heart sink when I hear her horsey tones braying out such outrageous stuff whether it's for effect or not. Deeply depressing.

she sneers at people who appear to be from a 'lower class' whether they be Northern or not

but showed up her incredible lack of judgement and total snobbery when she concluded that Paul was the most intelligent and mature in there. What, because he talked with a posh accent? The guy was a moron, just goes to show

I'm a southerner and live in Hampshire. I don't hear disparging remarks about Northeners like the ones Katie makes. There's always the jokey banter of course, about us being posh etc, and you lot being partial to sheep, but thats never serious

And when I lived in London for three years I didn't hear it either!
