It was as though Northerners are little more than stupid, quaint animals, and 'chums' was a very patronising way of putting it.

My impression was that she thought Adam was thick. Does anyone have the exact quote?
She does think he's thick, and frankly she's right. |

What particular comments of Tre's do you think are comparable, though?

Good point, and good question. As far as I can remember, all she said is that he should go back home to his Northern chums. If so than people are taking offence for no reason.
She does think he's thick, and frankly she's right. |

It was more along the lines of, "he needs to head back up North, with all his Northern chums - where he belongs".
I think this quote subtly implies she thinks he's thick: 'Adam is a small school boy in very short shorts. If he was in my school he'd be in the C-stream and I would never have to deal with him and frankly that would suit me rather well.' |

Nor is "chums" offensive. Good grief. Some people are thin-skinned. |

I'm struggling to see why anyone should find that offensive. She's not saying all Northern people are stupid or anything like that. (Obviously she thinks Adam is stupid, with reason, but she's not generalising.) This is a variation on saying he should go back to his parking lot, or go back to C-stream. She just wants him to go away, and doesn't much care where to.

I think the issue is more the way she said it rather than what she actually said. Every time she mentioned the 'North' she looked like she was chewing a wasp.

Tre has said stereotypical things about the French and about women. For example, "The thing with us though is that we don't get all emotional like a bunch of women. [...]not that I'm a misgynist prick or anything." He said that the only reason for Jadine's upset was that she was having her period.

And also the fact that she says the North is where he belongs... Obviously implying she doesn't rate the North very highly, if she thinks it is fit for Adam.

I think she just meant he didn't belong in London, in The Apprentice and near her. (London being the capital city; like it or not it is where the big money is, where competition is most fierce and therefore where excellence tends to accumulate.) She takes a personal interest in people and so knew where Adam came from and what his previous job was, so she includes these details in her comments to make them more colourful, more specific.
Have you thought of asking Gordon Brown if he needs a spin doctor?

Just like that Fred West chap - yes, he did bump off most of his kids and bury them under the patio, but does anyone ever acknowledge that the man was a hard-working and reliable builder ? |

I only saw her comments last night, I think she needs to keep it shut personally, no need to disrespect us Northerners, as if we are some how beneath her.
I wonder how many men she has been beneath to get to where she is |

He didn't say it was the only reason. He was of the opinion that she was being moody and put this forward this as a possible reason. Some women do actually have mood swings around their periods; it has been used in courts of law as a defence in some cases of violence. It may not be terribly PC for him, as a man, to say it, but it's not an outrageous suggestion IMO.
I agree. And I'm a woman! And to be honest, it would be nice to know that there was a reason for Jadine's bad moods, rather than her just being a moody so and so. |

Nor is "chums" offensive. Good grief. Some people are thin-skinned. The whole context of when she was saying it is important though. She was making a derogatory comment about Adam (who she actually seemed obsessed with), and it was clear from the way she was speaking that she was making a generalisation about all Northerners. |

My goodness, you all need to take off your tinted glasses when looking at the other contestants. Kristina is 2 faced, Simon was offensive in his mimicking a stereotype of asians, Tre is a hypocryte, being all precious about naked women, but being sexist in his comments (and just how can he have such standards when everything that comes out of his mouth is foul?). Adam LIED in the boardroom (although he claimed later it was a mistake). So ok maybe Katie isn't perfect, but really are any of them?
And let's face it, Adam WAS thick. |

I didn't think he was.
And then his complaint that it was unfair to lose and that he really wanted to go car racing - he WAS just like a little c-stream school boy then in his shorts. And finally in the taxi - people perceived him as the threat (REALLY???!!!! Do you REALLY think that . . .sweetie??) |

Now you're scaring me with that Sweetie thing (and all the excessive punctuation). I notice you don't respond to my comment about Katie's fairly major misjudgement, either.
It's interesting that in Katie's defence you highlight the photography task. I, too, thought that was one of her better tasks - but the bottom line was that Adam contributed to the team's coffers by selling pictures and Katie didn't - so she performed worse on the criteria by which Siralan was measuring the task (which team ended up with most money). This 'little C stream boy in shorts' twaddle does you no credit - unless you're being ironic and are actually trying to sound like Katie (or ARE Katie?; we've already had Adam on here). Adam's quite clearly not 'thick'. He may not be your idea of a deserving apprentice but there's no need to be so excessively offensive. This is the same mistake Katie makes. On balance, she may have business attributes better suited to the job than Adam – and quite possibly many of the others – but her inability to keep a lid on her spite and malice makes her a seriously loose cannon and unpleasant to be around. Any business skills she has (and I grant that she has some) are negated by her lack of social skills. She can fake them for a while, but the cracks soon show and the poison seeps out. Fortunately for Siralan he's had a while to get to know her properly, which is why I doubt he'll be finding a place for this particular viper in his company - however smooth she may initially appear. |

As for Katie performing the worst on the art project. You are right, the measure of success was the amount of money made, but the means of delivering that were more than just selling, they had to get the product in the first place. Adam didn't contribute to that, but Katie did. In the same way that Katie didn't sell but Adam did. Likewise, money was the ultimate measure of the success of the task last week. But to get to that they needed time management, research and negotiation skills - sadly in all 3 areas Adam was found lacking. As for the comment about her playing around with Paul. Well yes maybe it was a misjudgement/naive to think no-one would try to use to against her, but when they did and made it personal she was within her rights to retaliate. |

Ok let's see, yes I was trying to be ironic and saying it how Katie would say it - I will refrain from doing so in future and from use of punctuation to get my point over.

However, in no way was I offensive towards Adam.

You'll note that I referred to specifics to back up my points. Perhaps you can point to some specifics to back up your claim that Adam's quite clearly not thick?
