What's the deal with whoever gets fired, they walk from the 'boardroom' to the very shiny taxi with their long overcoats zipped up so tight to their necks?!

Everyone that has been fired leaves the building in this way, next they're inside the taxi talking to the camera without it and usually it's got very dark outside very quickly!

I suppose it's supposed to symbolise leaving for good or something, you sure see a lot of clever editing and other editing tactics to this show!

(still quite enjoyable though)

..to hide the fact that they're not wearing the same clobber as in the boardroom. If you look at their shoes and trousers/skirts these are different sometimes from what they are wearing in the boardroom.

BTW the exit to the taxi scene is filmed at Amstrad House in Essex. The boardroom scene is filmed elsewhere..don't know if the docklands even has anything to do with Amstrad or the show. I just think they use the shots (and it's the same clip every week) to make it look more corporate than some red-bricked building.

The walks to the taxi are all filmed at the start of the show because the boardroom isn't actually in the Amstrad building. When people are fired, it would be a hassle to drive them to the Amstrad building just to walk out of it.

My guess is they wear the big jackets to cover up their clothes as nobody knows what they'll be wearing when they get fired and so they do it for continuity reasons.

the coats are standard "boardroom" attire. Any job in the city has the unwritten rule you must own one.

That makes sense, thanks, I understand the standard board room attire, except that they don't go into the board room with them as far as I can remember but that all walk out with them very tighly zipped / buttoned up!

Thanks for the answers!
