Ditto. I have tickets for Wed 25th July (stalls, a few rows back from the front). Mentioned on another thread that I would take a gamble to see Daniel or Lee. If the leading part goes to someone else I will probably still go as I don't want to let my friend down but I will be really p.......d off !

Me too, I'm going whoever wins. Although if it isn't Lee or Daniel I think the feeling would be one of curiousity rather than excitement.

Could anyone help me clarify what happens in theatre land with preview or premier nights?

I've got tickets for 6th July which is the first night, but it's oft referred to as 'Preview' night.

Does this mean it's a bit of a practice and testing ground?

Or is it the proper first night of the show and the judges and ALW etc etc will be there?

As it's referred to as 'Opening Preview Night' this sounds like a glorified dress rehearsal to me...

The tickets were full price £49.50 each.

I'm sure there's loads of you out there with more theatre knowledge out there who can help. And thank you!

See tickets is good cos you can actually see the seat before you. Not sure many other sites do that. Have booked ours for August, so winner will have had a couple of weeks to settle in. I hope its Keith but there may be family difference of opinion there.

The preview nights are an opportunity for them to get everything tip-top before the 'press night' and then it has it's 'opening night' when all the famous people attend and a party afterwards ...

I think from the preview nights they are able to iron out anything that doesn't work - that doesn't mean to say that the show won't be great and that you won't get your monies worth - often it's just down to where people stand on stage, and tweeking little things here and there.

That's my take on it anyway - I'm sure some professional from theatre land would be better suited to say!!!

Not if you like the show "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor dreamcoat" and the experience of seeing it at a West End Theatre rather than a travelling performance or whatever. If you're favourite wins, whether they are deemed 'decent' or not, could just be seen as bonus.

I posted this somewhere else but i think its better to post it here- how do you know if its not gonna be an understudied role? I know someone asked that before, but I'm still confused.

There wont be an understudy for quite some time, unless the person who wins it really struggles with the 8 shows....

God, not now, no way would I take that chance! Fifty quid to see Keith or Lewis? Never.

silly to book until you know if the lead role is going to be played by someone who can do the job anyway.

There must be an understudy to cover days off etc.

From memory of when Jason Donovan did the show - one of the brothers was the understudy for Joseph ... they then have 'swings' who step into the brother role if required.

Both Lee and Daniel have understudied for shows and then going into the lead - I saw Daniel in Rent because Adam Rickett was sick. As it happens I was quite happy about that because Daniel was great.

They have Sundays off, I thought.

NoahsArk - Sorry, my multiquote seems to have dodged up How often was JD's understudy on in the run of the show do you know?

It was actually only when JD was sick - which I don't think was that often. When he went on holiday Darren Day stood in for him for a few weeks.

Because the role of Joseph isn't as vocally demanding as something like Maria - one would assume that there would be no need for a second 'Joseph' like Aoife is doing to cover Connie.

So in past shows Lee and Daniel would only have ever come on as the lead to cover sickness or holiday ... not as a second lead - ie Tues and Thurs etc!

Hope that makes some sort of sense!

I was looking around at prices for tickets because I want to go and see and couple of shows when I go to London in a few months.

Joseph for that time is priced at £62.50 a ticket for the weekend and £56.65 during the week! I've so far looked at Wicked, Les Mis, Mamma Mia and Avenue Q and there all cheaper to I think I'll be off to see a couple of them!

Wicked is good, so is avenue q. dirty dancing isn't bad either.

Avenue Q is high on my list, as is Les Mis. And Just because I'm a huge Abba fan Mamma Mia is in with a shout.

I'll wait and see who wins before I decide whether to go and win Joseph but for those prices I'd want my world rocked and there's only two contestants left who could do that.
