Slightly off topic I know, but is Joseph your favourite Andrew Lloyd Webber (ALW) musical? Or do you prefer others such as Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Cats, Starlight Express, The Phantom of the Opera, Aspects of Love, etc?

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat; without a doubt. It's my favourite musical, full stop!

Joseph was the first musical I ever saw when I much younger (a semi-professional production in Torquay!) so I do have a soft spot for it.

But I also love Phantom as well.

Phantom.... the music just stayed with me ever since.... great music.

Phantom, but loved Whistle Down The Wind.

Phantom for me too. I love past the point of no return - it still gives me shivers.

Oooh i just have to add that while Phantom is my favourite musical by ALW "Gethsemane" from Jesus Christ Superstar has to be his best song ever.

I agree, although my favourite song from JCS is "I don't know how to love him" and I couldn't possibly pick a favourite from Joseph, I love them all!

Evita - loved it with a passion. Saw the original broadway cast with Mandy Patinkin and Patti Lupone. Phenomenal!!!

(hated the Madonna movie though:sleep: )

I also loved Phantom but only with Michael Crawford. Anyone else I saw could never measure up.

Joseph (first one I ever saw) and Starlight Express

I saw Cats in the first week it opened and I was just blown away. Probably not the "best" but it's my favourite.

I love Jesus Christ Superstar too, especially Judas song, I don't know how to love him and Gethsemene.

As for Joseph I love the lyrics more than anything. I've directed a school production and like most of us I was in it myself. The kids love it now just as much as we did then. If there is such a thing as a "people's musical" I suppose Joseph is it.

Out of all of those, i've only seen Joseph and Starlight Express. SE was amazing but for me Joseph has always been my favourite musical.
Thats why i've been so excited about ADWD

Phantom, but only if the right people are cast. I'm very picky about that musical - if it's not absolutely right, it can collapse like a pack of cards (metaphorically, of course, I'm sure the set construction is second to none. )

Otherwise, Evita. Although my favourite ALW songs are from Cats ('Memory') and the title tune from Tell Me On A Sunday.

TBH I think Joseph is pants! Its a really rubbish musical sorry! I like Starlight and Jesus Christ Superstar and Cats.
