So, because a few people have said that they'd rather watch Big Brother than The Apprentice, you've lost the will to live? Sounds a bit drastic dont you think?
I'm taping the Apprentice instead and watching the opening of Big Brother. It's what the video recorders for, so I'm gonna put it to good use.

Apprentice, no contest. I can't abide BB. Lazy, non-entity, attention-seeking, celeb-Z-list-in-waiting freeloaders just waiting for the show to end so that they can go and open a new Tesco in Bridgend. I've met plenty of ex-BB contestants and most of them had as much personality as a tea bag.
In fact, the whole idea of BB leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Ritual humiliation of often vulnerable people, the whipping up of a media frenzy every time anything remotely interesting happens and the virtual destruction of housemates' characters, often out of context thanks to creative editing. So many lives have been destroyed by BB since it started it astounds me that another 10 of these suckers come forward every year! |

I'm a major BB fan and have been an active forum member for years but....
I will watch the apprentice. The ONLY show on TV that would make me miss a BB opening night. I'll catch up with BB some other time. Tut. Tut. C4. |

This is no contest for me as I hate BB with a passion as a pointless manipulation of less than interesting show-offs who, on the whole, revel in their own stupidity and ignorance.
The Apprentice is still reality TV, making me feel a little dirty watching it, but at least there's some point to it and the projects are, in themselves, interesting to watch. |

Hmmm. The British Soap Awards 2007 over on ITV1 might throw a spanner in the works for both of 'em though as that's supposed to be happening live (on BB Launch Night!? Good luck to 'em!).
There's various awards to be won due to shortlists being announced only on the night and organisers relying on phone voting through soap fans. |

In terms of the series average, The Apprentice will do better, not only because it is a third series, but it is on BBC1, far more mainstream than either BBC2 or C4.
But you also have to take into account that Big Brother 3 also got the highest ratings at the time, and still has, with an average of 5.8 million viewers. The thing is, the finals and launches of BB do better, ranging from 7 million to 10 million, with the Apprentice from 2 million to 6 million, but because the latter is shown once a week, it doesn't drag as much. However, The Apprentice won't be BBC's "big hit", because shows such as New Tricks and Eastender bring in bigger, yet BB on C4 would be its big earner. BB hasn't gone past its sell by date because... I really don't know! It is just a programme that became an instant hit. The Apprentice took a long time to progress though. BB7 added 300,000 viewers since 2005, and on The Apprentice, it has gained an extra 1 million. But this is because, as I have said, BBC1 is more mainstream. Next Wednesday I shall watch the launch, and then wuickly watch You're Fired afterwards. Mybe between advert breaks, I will watch The Apprentice. As for any other Wednesdays, The Apprentice will be what I will watch! Here are my predictions for next Wednesday: The British Soap Awards - 7.2 million Big Brother: The Live Launch - 6.8 million The Apprentice: 4.5 million |

Oh god, I have just lost the will to live. I thought I had found people of a similar ilk who enjoy the cut and thrust of the Apprentice (whilst acknowledging it is in essense a reality show), but that's all gone knowing that you would rather watch the opening of BB (a bunch of pond life lazing around doing nothing remotely taxing or interesting). No wonder you're all up in arms about Katie, you really are from different worlds.

Surely in 2007 most people who are likely to watch reality TV have a means of recording 1 while watching the other! I'll watch BB as it's the 1st night & then The Apprentice later - even though The Apprentice is my favourite by far.

Loads of people I know tend to just tune into the opening night of BB and then the finale and miss out much of the middle which generally means they form an opinion based on what the editors want them to think...)
Therefore I think the Apprentice will win because i think most people watch BB sporadically now anyway (unless you're a die hard fan ofcourse - which I used to be) |

I'm going to be watching BB on launch night and putting Apprentice on Sky+ but the Big Brother recap shows are going to be at 10pm this series, so it's only next week that it will clash.

In this day and age of Sky+ and Freeview PVRs , DVD recorders and for the last 25 years, VCRs, nobody needs to miss either. I will be watching the BB launch night as it is live and you get more sense of occasion watching it live than a recording the next day. I'll record the apprentice on the PVR and watch it straight after BB has finished.

I'm afraid Big Brother is gonna wipethe floor with the Apprentice this week. The next week if they clash there'll be no problems, and when the Apprentice's final is on, it will win hands down, but the Big Brother launch night is one of the TV events of the year, and i for one cant wait for it
![]() Of course i have my handy Sky+ so i dont have to miss out on the Apprentice

Can you blame them for trying to get viewers?
No seriously, I've decided that the launch shows are usually an anticlimax anyway. THey amount to lots of shouting from Davina and people walking into a house with suitcase. I will catch up with the whole thing on E4. I get to miss Davina shouting - hurrah! And I get to make up my own mind about them and form my own first impressions. I want to watch "Your Fired" after the launch to see what happened, but I can't because the finale of Desperate Housewives is on.

As much as I like the Apprentice nothing beats BB, I love it when people say BB has past its sell by date its on its 8th series and still gets 4 + million viewers everyday.
