Upscaler needed for KDL40W2000 and LE26R74BDX
A friend and I have two HDTVs - the Sony KDL40W2000 and Samsung LE26R74BDX. Does anyone have any experience on whether these will benefit from an upscaler, and if so, what sort of money would I need to spend to see some benefit.
I've been looking at the Sony DVP-NS76H (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-DVP-NS7...dp/B000F5SNS6/) as a possibility - anyone used this with the above TVs? Thanks, Matt |

Upscaling DVD players are only as good as the scalers that are used onboard. The one you have linked to is what I regard as a budget model, you will probably find the scaler in the TV is better than that of the player in this case.
It's not until you go high end that a difference is seen and is noticeable. Personally I would go for a standard player given the budget, where they are more likely to concentrate more on the SD playback rather than a two bit scaler that under performs. IMO they just add these as a gimmick/selling point. |
