Panasonic v. Sony
Burma
15-05-2007
Hi,

I am about to buy a new 32" HD LCD and am torn between the Sony V2500 and the new Panasonic LXD700 which is about to come out. The latter seems to be getting rave reviews. I appreciate it isn't out yet, so presumably no-one else has seen it (?), but I understand its the same screen as the LXD70 with better sound and one more HDMI (and looks better). However good it sounds though, I still find it hard to look past a Sony for pure quality.

I have an old Sharp Aquos at the moment. I spend most of my TV watching time watching sport and the way my current LCD handles motion is appalling. The Panasonic with its Motion Pro seems to be the answer.

Does anyone know if the Sony X series will come out in 32" and if so when?

Any views much appreciated.

Cheers

My personal preference would be for the Panasonic.

The Sony V2500 is quite old now and has been surpassed by other brands.

The Panasonic should certainly be one of the best.

Panasonic without doubt.

I seriously looked in to the Sony and was not impressed by it at all.

Like anything else, try and compare them - company wise Sony is the number one brand, and Panasonic the number two.

I had a play about with the Panasonic LXD70 and actually thought I could live with it (most LCD/Plasmas have not overly impressed me with SD material) but this one looked really quite good (still not as good as my Sony 27"CRT widescreen but hey)

The Panasonic has had some good reviews for picture quality, the only possible issue is that some mention they hear it whistle or buzz slightly, even in standby. Not heard it myself though.

I've never touched a Sony product since they started putting tracking programs on their CD's which infected computers.

You'll probably find that Sony TV's will report you if you watch porno, or illegal DVD's, or such things.

Oh that's a small worry compared to the radio tracking devices they now put in cornflakes.
