Depends how you define "rock" band. If the group encompass any styling of rock I'd throw The Eagles into the mix.
But not really sure The Doors are the third best rock band ever, maybe top ten, just. Can't argue with Led Zepplein being up there Oasis higher than Cream, are the voters for this brain dead muppets?

Hmmm... I dont think there is an official 'Best rock band ever' surly it depends on the individual, personal taste etc. Unless you are talking about record sales, but that hardly accounts for quality does it?
For me the top three are:
1. Muse
2. My Chemical Romance
3. H.I.M
But I can tell you now, the majority of people would not agree with this!

yes I go off bands where they come out saying they are going to save the world and give us your money.
I dont think a lot of modern day bands could qualify as I dont think we really have any rock bands anymore.
It also depends on what you mean by best, is that best music, best live or what.

I suppose the definition of 'Rock' is subject to the era you were raised as rock has changed so much over the ages, at first it was Elvis and now it is the Foo Fighters, strange bedfellows indeed. That being said my personal faves are :
