I reckon if OTV don't go Top 5 then its all over for them. But with the mighty Rick Astley behind the song its going to be number 1 for the whole summer !

Together Forever is a top pop tune... closely followed by the passionate Cry For Help.

Cry For Help is my favourite too. Rick's latest album came out the end of last year and it's suprisingly(?) good.

I only remembered Him doing Never gonna give you up and Together Forever and that he was like a 2 hit wonder. But after checking on Wikipedia I see he still going.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_Astley_discography Studio albums = 6 Compilation albums = 5 Singles = 16 More than a 2 hit wonder. Anyway glad he won the award. |

He won the award because of novelty and young kids and teens thinking it's hilarious. (due to the whole internet Rick Rolled thing which has happened to us all).
He hasn't won it based on musical genius , let's not heap praise on him. |

It's very easy for people to mock Rick Astley as a SAW product who disappeared into obscurity but he is much more than that. From what I have read, he quit the music business to spend time with his family (he and his girlfriend had just had a baby daughter) but during that time he continued to write music. He wrote songs for various performers and he himself appeared on tracks by MAX and wrote soundtracks for Scandanavian films (not 'that' sort of Scandanavian film though). His German released album 'Keep it turned on' was great and his album of covers really showcased his distinctive voice.
The biggest problem with Rick Astley is we haven't heard much from his fantastic voice in the intervening years. Surely one of Britain's premier singers- puts the XFactor wannabees to shame. Personally I hope this award is a springboard to launch another album of self penned tracks. |

He's still going strong, I wish he'd have more chart success, he's truly a musical legend.
