Optical Cables

Hi, I'm currently awaiting delivery of a new Samsung lcd tv. My problem is that I have several devices that have optical sounds outputs (360, PS2, DVD Recorder & TV). I only have one optical input in my 5.1 setup. Would connecting al the devices up to my tv via scart or component and the using the optical output on the back of the tv to connect to my speakers give me dolby digital or would I have to somehow connect each device directly to the speakers to achieve proper dolby digital? The TV is a Samsung LE26R87BDX btw.

Cheers for any advice.

I doubt any of the above will work, scart doesn't carry multichannel audio and component only carries the video element.

Looks like you need a 3way optical splitter.

Optical Splitter

The TV would need to be connected via the stereo outputs, unless you can locate a 4 way splitter.

I have one of these:

7 inputs, 4 of which have optical connectivity. Fantastic for games consoles, as it also has an ethernet hub built in.

Does such an item exist but with HDMI?

Thor do a 3 and 4 way HDMI splitter with optical although it is expensive circa £125 cables not included. Check out Ebay they have a few listed.
