I've just had a thought...if it was just an excercise in creating an advertising campaign, why didn't they just keep their team names?
A trainer called 'stealth' could get away with an ad where you don't know what the hell it's about and where's the old Jadine with her 'Eclipse' obsession?

That's a very good point indeed Cavegirl.

Surely once you think about it the best name for a company called Stealth to call their trainers would be 'Stealth'.
Surely?

'Stealth' would be a great name for a trainer.

'Eclipse' would be a better name for a trainer than what was used as well.

Speaking with a bit of experience in last night's task I can say that both teams' approach to the product design and marketing was absolutely dreadful.

The low point was Katie's pitch. .....She didn't understand her target market at all, she didn't believe what she was saying, she stumbled her words (forgivable if the words make sense but hers didn't), it sounded painfully scripted and I think Siralan put it perfectly when he said, 'Who's Jay?'. It was blindingly obvious that the whole concept was 1% planning and 99% bullshit. ........I frequently have to present brand design to clients and I can say with some certainty that if I pitched to a client like that, no matter how good the work was, not only would I not get the job I'd most likely be laughed out of the building.

I think someone's been exaggerating on their CV a little bit. .....If she is a 'global brand consultant' I'm a monkey's uncle.

The worst product, I have to say were the Street trainers. ......You DO NOT try to do graffiti typography unless you know how to do it properly.

The Jam logo was pretty shoddy too but at least a little bit of thought went into it. ......The microscopic size of it on the trainers was hilarious. ......I agreed with Trevor Nelson that they might appeal to the older generation. He said over 50s.......I think he was about 30 years out. I can imagine octogenarians crown green bowling in them.

This was my favourite show so far this series. .....It's always funny to watch people trying to do your job.

. (Tre had a real chance to shine at this task, but again he didn't - he really is all mouth, I've decided.)

Katie's attempts at being 'hip and cool' when presenting were laughably embarrassing - as was that grotesque fake smile pasted on her face. (She's so transparent - every word she said was negated by the underlying expression of contempt on her face - she just can't help it!) And anyone who thinks she's terribly successful at her job should be asking themselves why she's working for some two-bit outfit down in Devon - very nice, but not really the centre of the commercial universe.
I agree about Tre, he has a go at something, concludes he is great, anything wrong is nothing to do with him, goes off happy.

LOL at Katie and Devon, I assumed she lived there but travelled a lot, I did not realise it is a "two-bit outfit".

I found the best part of this episode to be:

SAS:"Katie, you asked me to think like Jay OK. I'm thinking like Jay. Jay thinks your advert sucks. <pause> And Jay says Ghazelle, you're fired"

If I had been on one of the teams I would have suggested calling the shoes "SAS".....not that I'd be trying to influence Sir Alan

You are so right....that graffiti "STREET" graphic was the high of naffness whereas the "JAM" logo was simply pathetic.

The teams made a huge mistake in trying to come up with a cool logo....I would have done the complete opposite and picked something that was so uncool that it apparent nerdness made it cool.

You've got to think of the American Market. They might think "Stealth" is a bit "sneaky".....
