I used to work as a retail buyer, and these sort of tasks really annoy me.

There are no true buying/selling skills involved in getting a one off, tiny order from a retailer, or buying a single item at a knockdown price just because you've browbeaten some poor shopkeeper.

True business is about establishing a relationship with a buyer/supplier and brokering a deal from of which both parties benefit to their satisfaction, and will sustain long term.

I know they have to have a task which can be accomplished quickly and make good TV, but to make out that that is how things work in the real world is unrealistic.

That's why it riles me when they're so rubbish. If you watched all the US and UK series you'd know what sort of tasks were coming up and what worked.
