That way there will be experience verses a newcomer and the competition won't seem such a farce. Also during that programme the majority of Daniel voters may have switched their votes to Lee; leaving Lee to win by a total landslide.

Oh yes - and back to the thread. I think Ben will go on Saturday!”

But for us watchers talent is subjective! Some of us are more experienced than others at knowing what actual talent it and some of us are blinkered by our fandom for our favourite.

I make no bones of the fact I like Ben but no he isn't ready for a lead yet but I still think he has (well for me) that certain something.

Daniel i think is absolutely fantastic but I cannot see him as Joseph. He also has had a few ropey weeks which is surprising for a professional. Keith I still think even after last week's performance is too young, Lewis too lacking in confidence, Craig not enough acting experience and it shows even after last sat which was a break through but not enough to open as the star in the west end with in weeks which leaves lee as the only one left who for me can cut it.

Back to thread topic. I think ben will be out this saturday and I will be sad but at least I won't be on edge every saturday

Do you vote for Ben? I am asking because if you or someone else knows he isn't good enough for a lead role, but still votes for him then surely by voting for him people are just ruining the west end production by putting someone in the lead who isn;t ready or good enough for that role.

Well i did try to vote for him last week but could not get through - lines constantly engaged

I will vote for him up until the final night and this is because I do not want him as Joseph YET - 8 shows a week would ruin his young voice I hear elsewhere that Maria needs surgery on her vocal chords from oversinging 8 shows a week

So why on earth vote for a contestant who you know shouldn't win????
twingle

Because he is improving every week and want to see this improvement and who knows he could win but personally I hope he doesn't - I don't want his young voice ruined

But if he did win, ALW's show would be ruined, not just bens voice.

I think I can see where Twingle is coming from to a certain extent. I agree that Ben is not ready to play Joseph yet, but for me he does have a certain something/star quality that I really like.

I have voted for Ben, even though I think Lee is the best all rounder for the part ( I vote for Lee too).

Why? Because I prefer him to the likes of Lewis and Craig and want him to go further in this competition than them. He may not be the best but in my mind he is one of the best. I feel the further anyone gets in ADWD the more opportunities will come their way. In many ways it is a chance to showcase their talent.

So I'm voting each week to keep him in the competition for that week. If and when it gets to the point that I think all the other competitors are better than him I will stop voting for him. I will definitely be voting for Lee in the final.

Perhaps my reasoning is warped, but it works for me.

I always check William Hill. The minute Keith becomes bookies fave, is when I start getting nervous about Lee not winning......

I think it could be Lewis. He has not improved a lot over the last few week compared to some of the others.

I know a lot of the young girls like his look but in the end it comes down to acting and singing ability and unfortunately he is not as good as the others in that department. Sorry Lewis fans

Yes that is quite a tough song. I thought Craig was very good last week and improved a lot from previous weeks.

Very interesting to see how he puts this one across! Lets hope he does well. I much prefer him to Lewis

Thought Ben was amazing tonight and hoing he doesn't make the bottom two - still think he is on ALW's hit list

I think Keith and Lewis were the weakest tonight, but I doubt Keith will be in the bottom two.

I've no idea, because I think Lewis will get a lot of sympathy votes.

Maybe Craig to go??

I don't know why but I think Daniel might be in the bottom two. I feel he is being pushed out by the judges.

He's the only one that can legitimately challenge Lee, and they don't want that he will be the Aoife and Abi of the competition.

They want the same formula for the final as last year
Favourite vs Underdog Vs Inexperienced.
Underdogs and inexperienced, are less likely to challenge the favourite than those who are well suited and talented enough for the role.

You were so right. Love Lee but the show has become a complete farce after tonight.

I don't really care about the show now as there is no challenge to Lee at all now. My mum watched for the first time tonight and didn't know who any of the guys were and she said that she thought Daniel ws the better performer in the sing-off.

He did indeed - but he would be miscast as Joseph. I have never watched the show before so I saw it tonight with no preconceptions. The moment Daniel appeared I thought - having seen the stage show several times over the last 35 years - that he was auditioning for the wrong part. When he sang from Les Mis he was brilliant - he should get himself cast as a more grown up character in a more operatic (for want of a better word) show.

perhaps, but then again I don't see Lee as perfect for the part either, I think both of them need to be in less frothy musicals. But I just don't think the others are good enough. Perhaps if Ben keeps on improving he will be.

I agree. I really liked Daniel, but did not think he was suitable for the part of Joseph.

I think Joseph is, as you say, a frothy musical, and looking at te previous people who've played the part (Jason Donovan, Philip Scofield, donny Osmond etc), and the way all the past Josephs have performed in Close Every Door, I think that a lot of them could play the part. That's why as much as I loved Daniel and Lee, I hoped that they did not win the show. I'd much rather see them in another show.

Perhaps but Jason Donovan et all, all had the elusive presence, from being a 'name' or otherwise. And because they were used to performing they had the confidence and maturity on stage and could draw people in. I don't doubt that most of the Josephs could sing it, but I do doubt if Craig, Lewis or Keith could hold a west end stage. I think Ben could and Lee obviously could, and so could Daniel.

I'm also weary of the teenagers winning because they could very easily damage their voice at such a young age doing 8 shows a week.

In one of his first interviews I remember ALW said the ideal Joseph he was looking for would be a cross between Justin Timberlake and and Michael Jackson (in his earlier days) -

he also said he wanted a different modern maria who climbs a tree and scrapes a knee, still he ended up getting a Julie Andrews clone.
