Sat dish cables go into back of Sky HD box (satellite cables).

HDMI cable from Sky HD box into TV HDMI slot (connecting Sky to TV).

TV scart out from Sky HD box into scart in on DVDR (connecting Sky to DVDR).

Scart out from DVDR into AV1 scart on TV (connecting DVDR to TV).

TV aerial can either go into DVDR, then a second RF cable from DVDR to TV, or connect it straight to TV if you are never going to record analogue television into your DVD recorder.

Depending which DVD recorder you have, you may be able to record Freeview from your TV via scart as well as from Sky.

You can, but you won't be able to record Freeview from your TV to your DVDR through HDMI. If you never want to record Freeview, use second HDMI connection. In that case, you will only have scart between Sky TV out and DVDR AV in. You might get away with having both scart and HDMI connections between DVDR and TV. If you do though, every time you press play on a DVD the scart signal will probably overwrite the HDMI signal anyway, and you will then have to manually select the HDMI connection using your remote control. Try it and see.

No, only Sky HD will be shown in HD, you don't have any other HD source.
