No idea what the model numbers are, but I've seen some where the rear speakers are wireless, but require a mains connection to them (obviously) and a wire connecting them together. All things considered it's not a great deal easier than normal!.

You best option is to go and have a look in the shops and see which you like, some even come with stands for the speakers!. |

I think the only rude person here is you! - I carried on and gave you my response to your follow up question - I thought it only polite to explain why I couldn't make a suggestion.
Perhaps you ought to attend politeness and anger management courses!. |

I very much doubt you will find any truely wire less speakers. The speakers will require some form of amplification built in to drive them. So that is going to mean mains power or a battery pack - one shudders to think how big that will have to be to give you half decent power and time between battery changes.
If they are mains powered then you are going to have wires running around the place anyway so may as well have conventional speakers powered by the amp. There is no way at all to drive enirely passive speakeres wirelessly. By passive I mean speakers with no amplification or any other electronics requiring an independent power source. |

At the risk of being accused of rudeness, I too would say that surround sound is a p.i.t.a.
If you look at the diagrams that come with them they always show a chair slap bang in the middle of the room, directly in frnt of the TV with four speakers placed symetrically around it. And to achieve surround sound, that is exactly what you need. Who lives like this apart from a few lucky individuals with huge sparsely furnished apartments? I think surround sound will soon go the same way as "quadraphonic sound"........ a system for filling our rooms with wires which was launched in the seventies as the successor to stereo. It died a death. |

I think surround sound will soon go the same way as "quadraphonic sound"........ a system for filling our rooms with wires which was launched in the seventies as the successor to stereo. It died a death. Sub-woofer just to the left or right of the TV cabinet. Centre speaker mounted immediately above, or immediately below, TV. Surround sound speakers wall-mounted in the two opposite corners of the room to the two front speakers. Settee positioned against the back wall, between the two rear speakers, facing the TV. Other living room chairs positioned against the two side walls, diagonally facing the television. All speakers are cabled - it's amazing how you can hide speaker wire underneath carpets and laminated flooring, or you can paint them and pin them to skirting boards, so that they are practically invisible. I do agree that a decent surround sound set-up is difficult to achieve when people tuck their TV into a corner. I know lots of people who've tried, but you end up with the two front speakers being very close to each other either side of the TV, or massively wide apart but not equidistant from the television, and the two surround speakers not really being behind the seating arrangement. Luckily I've never had to do that. I'd hate having to go back to a stereo only AV setup. |

You are totally wrong. Suuround sound has been readily available to everyone since the late 1980's when Yamaha marketed a very succesful souround sound amp. It has gone from strength to strength since then, really taking off with the availability of cheap DVD players. Nowadays the things sell in millions and there are numerous magazines and websites dedicated to it. People buy into Sky+ and Sky HD to get it, not to mention cable providers. You don't need a chair in the middle of a room to "get it" although those that spend many thousands of pounds on it will. Those who only want to spend £200 probably won't, they'll be happy with some sound from the rear speakers. Hardly a format that is "dead" Quadraphonic didn't take off for more reasons than you espouse. It was phenomenally expensive, required very speciallist equipment and there were three competing formats. To the OP. Sony do make one (although I understand Panasonic are about to release a new one that copes with HDMI - so has some future proofing) As has been mentioned though, there are no "real" wireless speakers as they still require a power supply. To my knowledge (and I'm willing to stand corrected) I know of no battery operated speakers with the required receiver to do the job. Possible not what you want to hear, but it may be easier to hide and disguise thin (or flat) speaker cable around carpet edges (or under) than trying to hide a mains cable scooting up the wall. D |

well it's not Sony but Pioneer do what you are after.
have a look here http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/content/press/DCS525.html http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/products...535/index.html never seen it in action and you still need power going to the rear speakers but if you put them at the back of a room and have a power socket there it will be ok hope that helps |

it sounds as if you have wee man syndrome. 5 feet two and have to shout and argue to be heard. why dont you just go on google and look up sonys website just because your wife bosses you around and tells you that you cant run a few wires in your living room does not give you the right to vent your anger at others. You horrible little man |
