Why did Emmerdale not show Carl killing Tom? Was it a letdown?

Its alright saving the clip for excuslive play on GMTV and This Morning but why on earth did they bother to film 11 endings if they didn't even show one in the actual episode? talk about tricking the viewers into watching! so many will have tuned in expected to see the killer killing him only to be disapointed.

I know I was, I'm also gutted it was Carl as it seems they just went with the one no one would suspect in an attempt to keep in secret when really Carl being the killer is like hitting your head on a brick wall. So much more could have been done if the killer had been Grayson, Chas or even Jimmy.

Plus when Paul Marsden was killed Carl could hardly hold it together yet him killing his own father doesn't seem to have had much effect on a man that couldn't cope with covering up a death let alone murder.

Perhaps tonights might start with Carl having a nightmare about the night of the murder (was it a murder?) and then wake up sweating. They could then incorporate the footage of him killing Tom. Carl pretty much described the murder to his brothers last night but it would be nice to see it just so people could buy the idea that Carl did it. In the video it shows he had no intention of killing him, just an accident. Out of all the suspects he is the best choice to go with because he was the least likely to do it and the one person Tom cared about the most.

I was of the impression that the killings were filmed for the benefit of the online investigation and as hints. I don't think it was necessarily needed in the episode at all. It wasn't imperative but if you really wanted to see it then it's up on Youtube.

No problem in my view.

I think it was a reward for the online people.

I've never understood why Tom was so much more horrible to Jimmy and Max, before Max died. I mean having favourites is one thing but I think it's kinda twisted to not bother to hide it. He always made it so obvious he favoured Carl. And Max was really spoilt and everything, and more clever than the others, but Tom was really, really horrible to him!

That was it, he was twisted, he would use the business and the inheritance as bargaining tools to get what he wanted, all four boys at one time or another had been stripped of their inheritance for going against Tom's wishes.

He didn't like Max because Max turned his back on the business.

They should all have done a mass walkout. If they had any brains and loyalty to each other then that's what they would do. I know that's what me and my bros and sister would all do if our dad was Tom King!

I never bought Max as the favourite one though, maybe that's why they kinda forgot about that after a while and always said Carl was. Tom acted like almost the total opposite sometimes, and he was always nicer to Carl even when Max was around.

I was disappointed by this too. I really expected them to show the murder! But it was a very good episode.

Emmerdale has had an excellent week ratings wise as well; Mon - 7.9m Tue - 7.9m Wed - 8.1m and Thu - 8.6m. Well done to the whole team... When Emmerdale do something well, they do it really well!!
