Agreed! And he attends school to study it! If he hasn't got it now, how will he ever?

I cant recall the name of the song he tanked on - but it was HORRENDOUS. Not just a bad note here or there.... I would be very concerned about his ability to sing in key night after night.....

That worries me too. I would love to know what songs they will be singing this week.

That's it. Daniel was already at a high standard, so he has had less to learn that some of the others. At this point, ALW knew that neither of the boys were likely to win it. But Lewis needs the show more”

I don't think ALW made his decision based on who needs the show more some how - i think hes prob thinking about his show and what he wants.

Regarding Ben's (shoddy) 'All By Myself'. I got the impression that the song wasn't really in his register, it sounded quite low for him at the beginning and he then had to sing right across the break in his voice. Then you have to take into account that he had a knock in confidence and that it is quite a tricky song to sing anyway.

This isn't the first time on this show that someone has been given a song out of their register. In Maria, Aoife was given You'll never walk alone which again obviously started too low so she couldn't quite hit the mark with the high notes, just a semitone higher it would have been fine. Siobhan was given a song in the final that was obviously too high even for her and when Abi was given the song Summertime which meant she had to sing across the break in her voice throughout almost all of the song.

You'd think ALW being the great composer he is would easily be able to find suitable arangements for the contestants but then (as i've said before) I guess that just wouldn't make good tv or something

But we're not talking about a few notes seeming strained, or the odd notes at the top or bottom of his register being a bit out of tune. Much of the song was badly out of tune and just sounded out of control. And with good singers you shouldn't be able to tell when they change register.

I've just watched the whole show again with my daughter, as it was on too late for her to watch on saturday (not because I wanted to gawp at the young men again you understand )

On 2nd watch, when you know what happens the programme takes on a very different slant... What I found interesting was that at no point did Ben get any sort of neg criticism, in fact v much the opposite. Lee also came off v well (I thought maybe as he's not as young they may've been a little mean to him, but they weren't). I think even the bedroom thing and the kissing thing didn't do him any harm.

My other observation was that the phone lines didn't open until AFTER everyone had sung. Therefore that would explain why lots of people tried to get through and couldn't. Praps they were trying before the lines were open?

And last, but not at all least, Daniel was given PR suitable for Bin Laden only! First the filing, but ok that made him look quite sweet and is forgiveable if a little geeky, then he had Evergreen which is not a great song and like he said you can't do much with it. And then thirdly, when ALL the other Josephs had their little song clips shown and the tel nos. read out, Daniel's clip was 95% the bits of the judges slagging him off. Even the most hardened Daniel fan would've thought twice about voting for him with that film footage being shown.

If you can, watch the whole of the shows again. Hindsight is wonderful and you can see that Daniel was walking the plank on Saturday. I always knew these shows pick and choose who to chomp and who to champion, but really, it's so blatant and v patronising.

My bet's on a Lee & Ben final, but after this Sat after seeing the BBC Axeman at work, who knows?

Do you not think that watching it with the knowledge of what ultimately happened you may've been seeing things that weren't really there?

Subliminal messages eh. I didn't record so can't watch again, but I know where you're coming from.

But Daniel seems fine - he has already been offered a role - has other castings going on ... so it aint all bad. Maybe people in the business saw what you saw ...

I hear what you're saying that perhaps it's easy to read too much between the lines, but the editing was blatant!

Especially, as aforesaid, the snippets that they play and then the voting tel no. EVERYONE elses was really nice whereas Daniel's was the equivilent of watching him drowning kittens!

If only I had the gizmo, I'd upload from the telly to utube for all to see....

Maybe someone else has?

I've always been a Lee fan although I do like Daniel's voice and would be happy to pay £50 to see him in a show. I'm pleased that he's got offers on the table and I'm sure he'll get a role that's more 'grown up' and more suited to his talents.

As ALW seems to be going for very "poppy" voices, if I was Keith, I'd be very worried

Keith is young though, and Zoe loves him, so i think he'll be ok.

Zoe might have a soft spot for him at the moment, but when it comes down to it, she has her credibility to consider and she must know that he isn't a leading man - on so many levels

You are spot on and going back to filing on your day off makes you sound boring or beige as John would say. I think this week will be interesting as ALW has said previously he cannot see Ben in the final three maybe this week will be his turn for the shoddy treatment - song out of his register for starters??

Zoe certainly hasn't worried about her credibility so far, she has been embaressingly biased!

I think all the panel have shown bias to a degree so far, but now that it's coming right down to choosing someone who actually will get to play Joseph, they might be more circumspect
