Nokia headset radio question
Edman
16-04-2003
I was thinking of getting a Nokia 6510 phone which apparently has a "mono" FM radio (unlike the newer models such as the 6610 that are stereo), and I am a bit confused about the "mono" part.

Does it mean that even with stereo headphones (e.g. a dual headset with a 2.5mm or standard 'phones using a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter), the radio sound only actually comes through one ear ?

Or does "mono" just mean that the FM stereo signal is not supported, but you still get sound through both ears like you would with most radios ?

To elaborate - I had been thinking of getting a hard-drive MP3 player (without an FM radio), a Nokia 6510 phone (that contains the FM radio) and then rigging both up with the Skullcandy set.

I don't mind the fact that FM stereo is not supported on the phone, but what would bother me, is if the radio only comes through one ear.

I would appreciate any replies from anyone in the know !

I am not sure, but some alternatives to the Nokia 6510 maybe the Nokia 7250, has stereo FM Radio, and a Camera. Looks nice

Or if its MP3's, you could get the Nokia 3650, get an MP3 Player program for it, and the 128MB Memory Card to store all those loverlly MP3's on, then use either the intergrated speaker, or the handsfree kit to listen to them, but would only be mono. and once again has a Camera too, what a nice extra!

I have a 7210 with fm stereo, but I can have it in mono and the quality isn't quite as good, but its ok.

I have a 6510 with a dual headset from an 8310. The sound comes through both earphones. I didn't even realise it was only in mono!
