Me too! I think she's great, i'll be hoping she wins out (find most of the rest of the women irritating beyond belief). I remember seeing her on some programme where she went on a spiritual retreat, it was very interesting as she really exposed herself emotionally in front of the cameras which I thought was very brave. It'll be interesting to see how open she is on this.

I like her too, I think she did a holiday programme recently? And I saw her in an old episode of Hazel on afternoon tv last year sometime! Remind me what other hits she had though, can't think of any more.

I can't stand the woman!
She's a resident panelist on 'Under Offer' daily on Sky.

I tolerated her until it was recently reported that she threatened to evict her parents from their home (which she owns) if they dared speak to the press again - (allegedly).

If Nell was favourite to win series one and didn't I can only hope the bookies are wrong again.

Well, having just read your post re threats towards her parents, I have also gone off her. That is so really horrid.

Sorry for influencing you Eejay I was just venting my dislike, you should wait until you see how she performs under hostile conditions! I think our preformed opinions on everyone of the last celebs changed once they had jungle fever.

Now can I get you to change your will in my favour this easy?

Well, I've learned to trust the stuff you post...even if what you state is just half true, then I don't like her.

As for the other matter , I am rather set in my ways

I seem to remember that on some TV lifestyle show around the time of BB2, she more or less said something along the lines of '...what makes people go on these shows'.

Toyah's participation

A few days ago I would have been in the "I like her " camp

But.........

FQ's tidbit cast a little doubt

Then I was racking my brain to think of any other hits she had apart from "Mythtery" and decided to do a search on Amazon

The search brings up 4 CDs and guess what, they all appear to be due for re-release in 2003 !!

Cynical publicity seeker, or what ?

Do we have our hate figure ?

I'm absolutely amazed. You've all gone from liking Toyah to disliking her within the short space of a few posts. Talk about sacrificial lamb.

I'm not too keen on her because I find her a bit pretentious. However, I am keeping an open mind, because I did change my perceptions of a couple of the people last time round. Others simply confirmed what I already thought.

Sorry Guys............

She is the most wonderful, honest, caring and generous woman I've ever known..................and she used to live in the same street as me, so I should know.

She will win - if I was a betting man I'd be having the mortgage on her!

Toyah and Linda...Ooh I feel tension...I shouldn't imagine they will get on at all. Toyah will spend her time trying to convince everyone she doesn't have a lithp when she plainly does. I reckon Linda could win it if she doesn't let herself down...she could be the new Tony...

I'm mostly indifferent to Toyah...hopefully she'll reveal more to her character than the afternoon TV celeb panelist side..

Where did you read this?. I couldnt find anything about it anywhere.

Thanks.

Toyah said this JOKINGLY in an interview a couple of years ago.

To suggest she should become the "hate figure" due to this is ridiculous.

She completely adores her parents and if anyone actually read the full interview they would realise the comment was flippant and not meant seriously in the slightest.

And haven't most of the contestants appeared on daytime TV regularly, not just Toyah?

Well I am going to try and keep an open mind and wait and see how she reacts but I am also wishing she does well

I can't remember exactly where, I think it was a snippet in one of the entertainment columns. It was some weeks ago now when I had no interest in Toyah Wilcox.

I'll do a check and see if I can find anything on it.

Can't find the article I was talking about but the fact that others here know which interview I am referring to confirms that it was indeed said. If the columnist in question happened to distort the words so that they took on a sinister take - then that has nothing to do with me.

To even the balance I have copied this small segment of a longer article taken from Toyah's stand against the resettlement of 750 asylum seekers in her local area.

------------------------------------------
The Spectator April 19th 2003

Toyah bought her parents their retirement cottage on the River Avon because she was worried about them living in the city. "I wanted them out of Birmingham. Some white kids stole a car and rammed it into their door; it was the last straw. My parents couldn't leave the house after 6pm."

The wild child is now protective of her parents. "I have no children - they're my family. My father put me through private school, even when he lost his money. I was born with a twisted spine and hip defect - my mother helped me through that. For 30 years, it was all about me. Now, I'm nagging them to eat better. I ring them every day."
-----------------------------------------
Not to forget her 'quirkiness' - here is a link to the interview she gave about ...

For some one who can't stand Toyah Willcox you seem to be spending a great deal of your time looking for information on her.

You aren't by any chance Daniella Westbrook's sister?

Faequeen cares for and loves qualtity & informed debate in all the various discussions that she chooses to take part in. Hence her investing her time & energy to the Toyah points being discussed on this thread.

I spent some time trying to find the comment in question purely for metafis because he likes her and I can understand that he would be speculative about whether it was genuine or not.

As a professional performer I do not doubt that she is exceptionally talented...in the kind of roles she chooses to play which isn't my preferred taste. I was never enraptured by the punk culture so wasn't admiring of her talents in that direction either.

I recall a documentary about her many years ago and how shocked I was at the way she spoke to her parents but in hindsight that's what teenagers do - although personally I wouldn't have dared.I just find her style dominating and rigid.

However as far as people go I don't resolutely dislike anyone and am always open to persuasion.

Don't worry about me spending my time looking for information, it's my job. I d/load approx 40 papers daily to my e-bookman so that I know which way the world is spinning - and how fast.

Nice to see a new face though.

Thanks faequeen, very interesting. I thought I remembered her going on some sort of march against the resettlement of asylum seekers. I must say that I thought it rather strange that she found it necessary to say that the kids who stole her parents' car were white. Perhaps trying to prove she isn't racist maybe...
