I spent some time trying to find the comment in question purely for metafis because he likes her and I can understand that he would be speculative about whether it was genuine or not.

As a professional performer I do not doubt that she is exceptionally talented...in the kind of roles she chooses to play which isn't my preferred taste. I was never enraptured by the punk culture so wasn't admiring of her talents in that direction either.

I recall a documentary about her many years ago and how shocked I was at the way she spoke to her parents but in hindsight that's what teenagers do - although personally I wouldn't have dared.I just find her style dominating and rigid.

However as far as people go I don't resolutely dislike anyone and am always open to persuasion.

Don't worry about me spending my time looking for information, it's my job. I d/load approx 40 papers daily to my e-bookman so that I know which way the world is spinning - and how fast.

Nice to see a new face though.

Thanks for the welcome

I'm sure there are going to some heated debates in this forum. Looking forward to those almost as much as the actual TV series itself!

I will be really happy if in around a month's time you have changed your opinion on Toyah as I have only ever heard really positive things about her.

Now, Daniella Westbrook and Wayne Sleep on the other hand..........

Precisely, Glowworm!!!

All the others are either totally non-descript or well,.......................dodgy (in the nicest sense of the word). Toyah on the other hand is.............well............nice. The public love her. She is an eighties icon for goodness sake!!!

They only talked about I'm a Celeb for about five minutes

Toyah said it was an incredible opportunity to do something which will never come around again

She is a big fan of "celebrity TV", Said that in real life celebs meet and greet each other but never have the opportunity to spend any time with other celebs. She is looking forward to getting to know some other celebs on a less superficial level

She is passionately anti-smoking
She is a tee-totaller
She is an incurable "flasher" who only wears clothes when she has to

She is a vegetarian, but like Uri, will probably eat anything if she is hungry enough

She says that there strict rules on I'm A Celeb to try and stop swearing, nudity and plugging of records/books etc

I just want to say that the people posting negative comments about Toyah couldn't have gotten it more wrong!!!! I've been an avid fan for 25 years and know more about the woman than is healthy quite frankly! She is absolutely devoted to her parents (especially Dad, Beric) and the only reason she said anything at all about the refugee camp at Throckmorton was because it was going to be sited on a foot and mouth mass burial ground containing 130,000 infected carcasses.
Don't believe the crap you read in the papers-Toyah has been mis-quoted more times than I've had hot dinners.
As for the re-release of 'Prostitute' and 'Ophelia's shadow' being somewhat fortuitous-these albums exchange hands for silly money on ebay, there is a genuine demand among her fans for these works to be re-released and their re-issue has been in the pipeline for at least 18 months. It really is just co-incedental.
And if you have only ever heard 'Mystery' and 'I want to be free' then please download some of her other songs-especially 'Danced' and 'Ieya' for a real flavour of what Toyah is about musically.
She rocks!!
Cheers

Hi Claire
Welcome...I just wondered where you got your info from. Do you know Toyah or you just going from what you read in the papers...

Hi London Girl!
I'm basing what I say on 25 years consistently and voraciously following her career, reading her autobiography and following her web diary at www.toyahwillcox.com.
Richard Madeley has just backed her to win ....every little helps!
Cheers

Yes, Claire, the radio interview I summarised above ( as it related to I'm A celeb ) went into this story in some depth and Toyah explained herself along the lines in your post and seemed quite sincere about it

I'm one of the FMs who only knows Toyah's hit singles but on the radio show they did play something from her new mini-album and it was pretty good !!

My thoughts exactly. I like to go into these things with an equal opportunity to loathe or love people.
Already I'm put off Toyah by the hype generated by her fanclub.

I think there's absolutely nothing wrong with Toyah having some avid fans, after all she has had an incredible career.

I'm far more put off by the way that people like Danniella Westbrook and Catalina have "hijacked" this show. They have been in every tabloid for the last two weeks in various degrees of undress, wearing camouflage bikinis and the like. Talk about milking this for all it's worth.

Doesn't that annoy you far more than anything Toyah or her fans have done?

I'm just wondering if Danni can last two weeks without looking up at all - all her publicity stills so far have been very careful to keep her reconstructed nostrils out of the view of the camera.

How come none of the other Songs Of Praise presenters have as big a fanclub as Toyah?

Bob
