Last night's shock vote confirmed in my mind what Seamus was saying - its a conspiracy. Lee's chances of becoming Joseph are now much improved since Daniel's departure.

I'm not saying Lewis isn't talented, I think he will make a great leading man one day. However, there is no doubt that the sing off showed how much more mature Daniel's voice was. I just don't think Lewis is ready right now to take on the pressures of having to carry the success of an entire west end show.

However, ALW voting off one of the clear favourites at this stage seems like a tactical move to me.

I have been shouting conspiracy theory for weeks but I have changed my mind. I think we are concentrating too closely on our favourite to win and not looking objectively at the role.

I have always said Daniel was a very good performer, but not Joseph. ALW knows what he is looking for and I believe he wants someone 'different' maybe not different in a good way though.

The younger guys are going to be more marketable.....

I was shocked at Daniel going, and he's always been one of my favourites and I definitely prefer him to Lewis, but then I've never thought much of Lewis, but my best friend thinks he's the best thing since sliced bread, and the judges have often said good things about him that I've not seen, so I'm not prepared to call it a conspiracy just yet.

I liked Daniel from the beginning of the live finals, and he is easily one of the strongest singers, but I must admit to agreeing with the judges concerns about him being bland. He's a nice guy, but he's always a nice guy, and I think he would struggle to convey the darker sides to Joseph's personality.

I don't know if ALW was right to get rid of Daniel, because I think his superior vocal ability would help to push that side of the performance from his competitors. However, it isn't just a singing competition, and maybe Andrew is worried that some of the audience is simply voting for the one they'd like to sing in their living room, rather than casting for a specific role. However, he can't have been that popular, or he wouldn't have been in the bottom two.

I hope Daniel gets something that suits him. I'm sure he will.

But surely all the emotion he conveyed in the sing-off proved to Andrew and the rest of us that he can do it!

It proved he would be really good in Les Mis !!!

I have always thought Daniel was fantastic but never a Joseph- something about the look. I hope he gets work on the back of this show. Perhaps ALW was judging on who is best for Joseph

I think conspiracy theory is a bit strong and I agree with comments that perhaps Joseph isn't the ideal role for Daniel. I do wonder if there's an element of ALW getting rid of him now while he has the chance, just in case it doesn't come again, as with Seamus. Just in that he didn't want either of them in the role and thought that if he got rid of them against weaker opposition, the survivor wouldn't make it anyway, so it's a win-win situation.

I said it before on another thread. After last night's sing-off there is no way Daniel would have been in the bottom two next week. ALW knows this I am sure. He didn't want to take this chance.

Shame we still have to watch Ben and Lewis, though.

I think you are right. Daniel being in the bottom 2 last night would have got his fans voting that much harder next week and this was probably the only chance ALW had of getting rid of him. Daniel probably also had the worst songchoices of the entire competition which didnt help. The path is clear for a Lee win which I am happy about as he is my second favourite but I cant help but feel cheated out of a potentially fantastic Final between Daniel and Lee.

I agree that Daniel shouldn't have gone - but in the end he did come bottom in the public vote.

Its the public's fault as much as ALW's that Daniel went out last night! If you don't vote for your fav cos you think he's safe then you can't complain if he goes out!

Yeah, I think the only reason Daniel came bottom of the public vote was cause everyone thought he was safe. Towards the very end of voting I got a bit worried for him and actually did vote a few times, but initially I was concentrating on keeping Craig in (in the assumption that Daniel and Lee were safe). People were too complacent, but somewhere in the back of their minds they also had faith that Andrew would save him if it came to a sing off. I've been suspicious of Andrew's motives since he sent Seamus home, but I certainly never imagined that he would save Lewis rather than Daniel. Still reeling at such stupidity,

I'm in agreement with the people who feel this was ALW's chance to get Daniel out while he could - he was given a dreadful song - he did his best with it - Lee was given a brilliant song for the brooding style he does so well and just shone above the others - last night Lee was clearly streets ahead of the others - Daniel looked utterly gutted when told he was in the sing off but he performed so strongly doing that song with Lewis - I was sure ALW would save him - I was as shocked as Daniel looked when he chose Lewis. Lewis seems like a sweet guy and he did sing well last night but he's not in Daniels class in my opinion - he was just a safer bet for ALW as he (hopefully) won't beat Lee - but hey who knows?

I am actually starting to think that both Daniel and Lee are too good for the role of Joseph.

It's a school play at the end of the day, and really not that challenging. It would be a good springboard to something else for them, but I think both of them would be much more suited to more mature roles, in something like Les Mis.

I think most of the guys left could cope with the part of Joseph,(though I was never convinced Rob could).

Personally, I just don't get all the fuss about Ben.

He's the one that meakes me think "conspiracy" - i think he's decidedly average, & some weeks poor, yet they keep talking him up! He's stayed in at the expense of much better Josephs.

its not a conspiracy, he was least favourite with viewers so what is all the fuss about, its a joseph competition and you have to judge him as that and he would suit something different. Lewis looks like a joseph and he sings good

Daniel has been my favourite from week one, but watching him do the number with Lee and Craig last night, I realised that Joseph is not his starring musical. Guys and Dolls is.

I also thought that Lee should be starring in Les Mis.

Lewis looks the part of Joseph, but I don't rate him.
Not keen on Ben either.
I like Craig and Keith, but don't think they have the experience to carry a West End show.

Tell me about it, one of my girl mates fancies the pants off him. a group of us were watching it last night and she was shouting at the TV screen saying 'you're so fit, you've so buff' etc, etc. lol She absolutely adores him but I can't blame her though cos he is a godd looking bloke.

Gutted for Daniel but I did think he was a bit off last night and I finally saw a glimpse of what the judges had seen in Lewis. Don't get Ben at all and still want Lee to win! But after last night who knows!
