that is exactly how I feel - I am still not 100% convinced that Lee will win - despite all the 'fix' rumours flying around. And that is why we are holding off buying tickets - if we buy and he chooses one of the others left in to play Joseph - I will have to sell them on ebay - and there could be a saturation of tickets on there by then judging by many comments on here! But if I wait and he wins - the ticket sites will be jammed and I won't get any for months - sigh.

But Daniel got the lowest audience vote - so therefore the viewers were not supporting him, so therefore surely ALW was working in tune with the viewers?

Have to say I am totally impartial about this decision - whilst I agree that Daniel could certainly sing (although his tuning was a bit off in places at times) - I could never see him in the role of Joseph, for the pure reason that he was just not the angelic looking, egotistical character that the part demands. However good his singing or acting ability (and that is debatable) - he just hasn't got the right physicality for the part IMHO.

By the same token, Lewis is not right for the part because his acting ability is pretty pants and vocally he can be a bit dodgy - plus he does seem to have a major problem with remembering lines. However - lookswise - he's probably a good fit because the brothers would be jealous and suspicious of the 'pretty boy' image.

Think ALW's decision purely boiled down to who he could see more in the part - and whilst I'm not enamoured with either - have to agree that Lewis fits the bill slightly better than Daniel.

It's a classic case of auditionees being right for the part - it's not always the most talented that are chosen for the role.

First of all, I think that a lot of Daniel's fans didn't vote because they thought he was safe. Obviously, this was a mistake and people will be more careful in the future . I absolutely understand that some people don't think Daniel suits the role, but I definitely think he should have been kept over Lewis who wouldn't cut it and doesn't have much audience support. One of the big problems here is the function of the singoff. I think a lot of people were under the illusion that the singoff was supposed to be a safety net if one of the stronger candidates found themselves in the bottom two, not an opportunity for ALW to get rid of candidate he doesn't like. Daniel completely wiped the stage with Lewis in the singoff, out singing and out performing him. If ALW is going to completely disregard what happens in the singoff, then lets just cut to the chase and get rid of it. The bottom 2 is announced and Andrew says who he wants.

I also agree fully with LaurieMarlow, if ALW is not going to take Any Notice of the sing off performance - do away with it and just say who stays!

Agreed - it was quite clear from Saturday night that his decision was based on nothing other than who he preferred ultimately to play Joseph - he said he didn't think Daniel was right for the role.

Daniel knew what was going to happen - you could see that in his face - but boy did he pull a final punch by giving such an amazing performance. Bet ALW wasn't expecting that.

As someone said before - it was more a case of getting rid of Daniel rather than saving Lewis. I think he knows Lewis will probably be gone next Saturday. Had he saved Daniel there would have been a good chance that he would have been safe next week. Apart from not thinking Daniel was right for Joseph, I wonder if he had anything against him at all?

Well, I really hope not ... if he really just didn't fit ALW's 'idea' of Joseph then it's probably nothing more than that. I hope that ALW sees what a star Daniel is and I'm sure Daniel will get plenty of offers.

I'm sure that DANIEL will get offers, but I still think that some of ALW comments and face pulling was uncalled for! and unprofessional

Actually ALW has been really p***ing me off with his face pulling - imagine how hard that must be for the boys to see him gurning in his performance. It's very undermining and he should really make an effort to stop it.

John Barrowmam seems to be a close friend to Andrew LW & we all know that he has been rooting for Ben from the start. Hell , John was the only one who pushed Ben to be in the final 12!

So John might have therefore influenced Andrew regarding Ben (since he's reasoning is about "youth") & if that's the case I won't be surprised if we get Ben in the finals and......god forbid wins!!

One poster also said "it's not who sings best but who will be the best Joseph?"

Surely they go hand in hand & more importantly being the best Joesph means the actor must be pitch perfect to sell the whole show to the audience which is what LLW is more concerned about!

I hope LLW really has it in his mind the whole package he's after & not get influenced by anyone....youth or no youth.

Question is among the remaining Josephs-to-be, who's got the whole package???

IMO Lee - looks, voice, acting skills, confidence, stamina, & most of all stage presence. He's been an understudy & background performer for so long now that perhaps this is his time to take centre stage.

I have to say, it upset me to see Daniel sing with all his heart in the sing off, wiping the floor with Lewis, obviously believing that it would make a difference, only for the quality of the singing to be completely ignored, imo.

However, I guess we have to accept that ALW knows what he wants and is entitled to go for it - I just wish I could understand what it is! Actually, someone posted on another thread that whenever ALW has a musical theatre voice and a lighter, more "poppy" voice in the sing offs, he always saves the poppy voice, which I thought was an interesting point, not sure if it's right or not.

I just hope now that Daniel doesn't leave this competition thinking that the GBP don't like him, as I think that he has massive support. Unfortunately, I think many people thought he was safe for a bit longer, and rushed to save people like Craig, who had looked a lot more precarious. Lee fans watch out - always vote for your favourite!

He really was a star wasn't he? So gracious and dignified when he probably felt crushed inside. Yesterday I read a thread from someone who was in the audience on Saturday night who said he totally held it together even when the cameras had finished (no blubbing at all!). ALW and Zoe came to talk to him immediately and John Barrowman stormed off the set.

He did look so crushed ... so I'm so proud of him that he took it that well and held it together. You never really know with ALW - he may well see Daniel fitting another role that is in the pipeline.

I heard John stormed off the set - wonder if we'll hear any more about that?? You know John doesn't normally hold back with his opinions.

In musical theatre it is not simply about who has the best voice - it is about the whole package.

Many a time the person with the 'best voice' does not get the lead part because they look wrong, they are the wrong height, the wrong shape, too old, too young.

For instance - think it's pretty safe to say that Jason Donovan would not have had the best voice out of all the performers eligible to play Joseph during his run - but he had a name and the looks that the producer at the time wanted, so therefore he got the part. Same with Philip Schofield - pretty sure that members of the supporting cast had better voices than him - but they didn't get the lead role because they weren't 'known'.

I really do think it was simply a case with Daniel of him just not appealing to ALW image wise - and remember the bloke wrote the music and probably has pretty set ideas of how he wants his Joseph to look and behave.

It's not 'fair' in some people's eyes - but the world of entertainment is notoriously unfair. Sometimes it's just about being in the right place at the right time and sometimes your face doesn't fit.

If John was angry about the decision - I would suspect him more likely to stop and talk to Daniel about it - rather than 'storming off" as has been suggested.

Maybe he had another urgent appointment somewhere - or was simply desperate for the loo?

You know you could be right. Several weeks ago I listened to ALWs after-show blog and he did mention that there were one or two remaining contestants who, although were not right for Joseph were very right for something else. He was quite evasive in his blog (as seems to be his manner all the time!). You never know! Although why he made that comment about him not necessarly being right for the West End was puzzling and totally uncalled for in my opinion.

As far as John Barrowman is concerned maybe they will show him storming off in next weeks show. Although probably ALW will probably want to put this weekend behind him. I wonder if he is being given a hard time at the moment? (here's hoping

Regardless - he was in the bottom two. Means that five potential Josephs got more votes than him.

Whilst I sort of accept the argument that maybe some voters thought Daniel was safe - so put the bulk of their votes elsewhere - it doesn't really make sense that he was one of the most popular as some posters would suggest. Surely if the general public were supporting him, the votes would follow?

I watched the show with a couple of friends on Saturday - one of whom had seen a couple of the early episodes and had been championing Daniel and the other who hadn't seen the show before. The Daniel 'fan' said she thought he'd gone off - and now preferrred Lewis. The 'non viewer' wasn't impressed with Daniel at all. Must admit - I thought Daniel was one of the front runners to begin with, but over the past few weeks, others have overtaken him. Do wonder if this opinion was simply reflected in the public vote.

Has anyone looked back at the footage of what ALW said - because I heard him faffing around with his words, and thought he said 'He would do well ..' I think if you stutter with would it could sound like would'nt ....

Not true. This person said that John Barrowman and Zoe were shouting that Daniel shouldn't have left. Also once he was in the sing-off, Daniel's family knew he was going home and there were tears from them even before ALW had announced his decision.

I think why it is hard to take is that ALW really didn't want Daniel to be his Joseph and for fans of Daniel that's really difficult to get your head around. His family knew he was going, Daniel knew he was going, and I think we his fans knew he was going ... I was sat at home convinced that he'd save Lewis despite Daniel's amazing sing-off performance.

But you know what, Daniel has been and will continue to be in musical theatre for years to come - albeit with a slightly higher profile than before.

Also, ALW cannot be blamed for the public vote. If Daniel had got full public support, he would have never been in the bottom two - and on the final show it is not down to ALW anyway.
