It isn't a lisp really. And if it's part of the package, I'll take it. Besides, Ruthie Henshall has sung through her teeth for years and she's always getting West End roles.

As for the spitting, I only have to mention one performer who's career's never suffered because of it - Michael Ball. One girl got totally shouted at on Michael's fan club forum because she was in the front row, he spat on her hand... and she gleefully licked it off. Blaaaah!

His lisp doesn't ruin his voice for me. I was more worried about his neck veins last night, bless him.

In some circles I believe he is known as Fat Micky.

Or is it a different type of lisp? Any speech experts onboard?”

I'm no expert, but it sounds more like a problem with his palate to me , rather than a traditional lisp.

Yeah, Lee sounds just like I do, and technically, I don't have a lisp, its just the way my jaw is.

Fat Mickey! He's not that big, is he? I've not seen him for a long time!

So have we established Lee doesn't in fact have a lisp and he is just a bit juicy ?”

I just watched that and I can't see it! What line is he singin when it happens?

It's called a 'sibilance' and is a slight funny ssss sound.

Shometimesh he doesh it and shometimesh he doesn't.

Somewhere down the line, Lee's had elocution lessons cos that aint nah essex accent he's got issit?

Probably just the training at Drama school helped to get him to standard RP (slightly posh Southern accent) and when he's singing the same thing every night in Joseph he won't do it because he can practice it without in the same way that anyone can say "The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain" nicely, but have a different accent the rest of the time.

I think he has a lovely speaking voice and have never heard the sibilance in his speaking voice...

Shteak or steak?

Onionsh or onions?

Me or GF? (sorry that one just slipped out!)

Thanks Talantra, but whatever it is called, it is for the GBP to decide if it is a negative feature of his performance.

If Lee had a lisp it would have been mentioned on the show before now - mainly for the reason to get the public thinking ahh bless etc. Zoe would have brought it up also because shes not a lee fan.

Thats out of order about Keith, isn't it ?
I'm English and I'm offended by that.
This implies he is daft.

look up

Classic

Anyway enough said I reckon and lets get back to the op?

Lee can overcome it if its saliva making him shh and I hope he does. It was, I admit the thing that make me like him less as a singer. If JB coud get him in Torchwood though I would be exceedingly happy. Lees acting is where its at for me

I think the lisp or sibililance or whatever you wanna call it is very cute and in no way detracts from his lovely voice.

Yeh, Lewis does have an unusually long neck and always seems to sing with his eyebrows raised.
