Mobile Tube - anyone heard of it???

Hi

Hope this is the right forum for this post, if not mods can you move it please.

Have just received a text message on my works mobile which when opened reads 'Hi there ' with just a 'go to' and 'details' button (sorry if this is a bit vague but I was on the landline when it came in. I think it was a push message - what is this?). I clicked the go to button and it took me to a wap site with something called Mobile Tube on it which cost me 40p. Has anyone come across this before as it's the first time I've had this and no one but work and close family know my number and they haven't sent it.

I had the same message come to my phone last bank holiday, looks like it cost me £1.50 too.

I've been getting spam messages from them about once a week too.

Thanks for the reply KAC.

Hope the same doesn't happen to me. How the hell did they get my number in the first place? Looks like I'm going to have to change numbers now.

You should turn off PUSH messages.

Nothing but a platform for spam such as this.

Ah, so that's what it is!

I started a similar thread yesterday that no-one replied to. As a rule, with suspicious messages like these, I never click on the link in the phone.

For some reason, my message was a little different to yours in that it displayed the http:// address rather than a hyperlink. The address itself was incredibly suspicious though.

*edit*

Am I right in thinking you were charged just for receiving the message?

I have done, hopefully that will put a stop to them now. Thanks for replying.

I think I was charged for pressing the 'go to' button as I did this twice and was charged 40p each time. Stupid I know but I have learnet my lesson and will know if it should happen again to just delete the message. Thanks for replying

I've also turned off push messages but I had them set to "Always ask" before so I don't know what was happening there.
