I just tried to update the firmware on my girlfriends Nokia 6280 using the Nokia updater. It found the new firmware and downloaded it, then started updating the phone it got about three quarters of the through and then said the phone wasn't connected and to take out the battery and try again but it keeps saying it's not connected even though it is. Now I can't even turn on the phone, if I try and turn on the phone when it's connected to the computer the computer makes a sound like when you first connect new hardware and then 5 seconds later makes the same sound again but the phone is just dead it won't turn on at all, even if I disconnect it from my pc. Is there anyway of getting the phone working again?

take the phone to your nearest nokia service point, tell them whats happened and there will be a log on their system to back up your info and they will then replace the handset.

Umm how did you update it? I just looked on the Nokia Updater site and the 6280 isn't listed.

I don't think the N95 is either?

There's some software that comes on the disc with the phone called Nokia Software Update, this generally works with all of the Nokia phones.

Yes it is, you just run PC suite and then use the update software button, it will detect your phone and download the updates and install from the net

OK, thanks guys. I haven't got a Nokia service centre within 40 miles so I am posting it off to the freepost address in Thetford that's advised on the Nokia website.

Think they must have the N95 on it as they have just released an firmware update for that

Oops missed that one, I thought it said The Link so I ignored it as they've closed, however it's Link Telecom. Anyway sent it in the post now so I'll just have to hope it doesn't take too long.
