Is my LCD TV nearly out of date already

I got a LCD 26inch HD stereo surround sound TV with built in DTT tuner and the HD is 720 but I heard that newer HD ready TVs are now 1080HD. So is my TV starting to go out of date. I only got my TV end of last year and it cost £499. I have seen my TV on some web sites now costing £70 or £80 less then we payed for it.

1080P would make barely any difference whatsoever to a HD picture on this size of TV.

yes a bit small but technology marches on

you buy a computer today and its already out of date, so a telly maybe not so bad

When I got my 26inch HD TV end of last year it was one on the latest out there. I see what you mean by everything you buy the now may start to go out of day in a few months time.

Your TV as with all things consumer will specification wise fall behind but it's viability is entirely upto you, it will still provide you with exactly the same performance now as it did when you bought it and if you were happy then nothing really has changed

I paid £2000 for my 32" LCD back in 2004, now if I got upset about the prices of that size range now I would be jumping out the window

In terms of resolution having a 1080p display is not always going to provide a better viewing experience since viewing distance and reasonable screen sizes for the room have to be taken into account. The ability to scale SD to 1080p also could be an issue if it's done on the cheap and perhaps buying HD media is a non-starter and those are the premium HD source material quality wise.

As a general rule with any technology, if it's available to buy, then it's already out of date as there's always something better just about to be released!

A good rule is to NEVER EVER look at similar products after you've bought one (especially computers!) or you'll get very depressed.

i bought panasonic PW7 plasma in 2005 april for £1400 and in 2006 may i got £600 when i sold as second hand.

i've upgraded to 42PX600 in june 2006 costed me £1789, now you guys know the price of PX70 (new generation panasonic ones)

If you want stay ahead of technology, you pay the premium for that!

I hope to keep the TV I got end of last year for 4 or 5 years at lest before thinking of replacing it. Last TV I had just over 10 years before it packed in and it was a 21inch stereo CRT TV.

Wait till LED-backlit LCDs come out. Then your TV will be out of date.
