Did it this morning - was actually shocked it worked smoothly.. I updated my contacts etc using the software from Nokia and then I used the Nokia Updater software. It downloaded about 113mb and took about 3 minutes to flash my phone with the new firmware 11.0.0.26.

Telly_Man have you done this ?

Oh yes, working much nicer!

The camera now is absolutely stunning. The lag was an issue before but not anymore.

How do I find out which firmware version my phone has? Only had it since Friday and haven't stumbled across that information yet.

Thanks, that was quick! I'm on v10.0.018 so it's time to update, I guess.

Yeah, depends which network you're with as to whether the update is actually available yet.

Remember to back everything up on the phone before you do it.

If your phone is branded (Vodafone,O2,T-mobile) then you can change your product code to the generic europe one and then it will let u update your FW. I dont think theres any FW updates for branded phones yet but i maybe wrong.

Doesn't look like an update is yet available for o2 phones through Nokia Sofware Updater. Looks like I'll have to wait

Changing the product code of the phone invalidates your warranty.

T-Mobile branded update is now available, as UMRO and I have updated!

It's worth mentioning for those of you with branded phones that you can get the generic firmware. the nokia stuff, not the network version.

it's fairly simpe to do.

i have written a guide on my site, but since my site has an advert on it i'm not allowed to link to it, you can get to it through my profile though.

Yeah, this is mentioned pretty much in every Nokia N95 thread.

T-Mobile's branding is pretty much non-existant though.

Well yes but it can help you get the latest firmware that isn't released network specific.

I had my N70 debranded at an NSC, and Orange still honoured the warranty.

OK I don't get this, each time I try to update the software I get a message telling me to take the battery out and unplug the charger (even though it's not plugged in) and run 'phone recovery'

That was done at an NSC though, not by someone using dodgy software at home .

How would they know? You're still flashing it with Nokia software.

My point was that they didn't check - the NSC warned me it would invalidate my Orange warranty.

One thing I've noticed since I upgraded the firmware is the SatNav hasn't worked yet. I just get the picture of the Earth with the cursor-box and the symbol on the bottom right stays as a red cross, it doesn't seem like it can pick up a signal
