Very strange use of language. Do you think the author of this piece was just completely fazed by the discovery that Kate does in fact have the standard number of legs, rather than the hitherto-presumed unileg?

.....or perhaps abundance refers to size of the legs (as in weight) as opposed to the amount showing....

It's better than being called a mangled toothed fireman's moll I suppose.
