Vodafone Live - address?
I've been trying to access Vodafone Live on my mobile over the last couple of days (usually don't bother with mobile internet at all because of the exorbitant cost, but anyway...) but all that I get is a blank screen.
This is the address I'm trying to use: live.vodafone.com My phone's set up for internet browsing as I can view the BBC's news pages without any problem, although it always loads up the regular version rather than the mobile version. When I've entered live.vodafone.com in Firefox (I have a WAP plugin) I'm told the server's taking too long to respond. What's the correct address I should be using? I'm on PAYG and Vodafone's own website is useless with basic info such as this! |

I gave that one a try last night. It seems that Vodafone hasn't updated it in a while because the phone I have (Nokia N71) isn't even on the list ![]() Because I can't choose the correct phone, I can't get past the first page. |

lol thats typical vodafone!, try this one...
http://www.nokia.co.uk/A4222200 Just downloaded the settings and although Vodafone Live still seems to be dead, at least I can now get the mobile version of the BBC's sites! I've also noticed that there's a seperate "WAP" version of the internet browser on my phone too) I've also noticed that reading a few pages of the BBC News site has just cost me 14p. Won't be doing that again in a hurry! |

if you do not have a vodafone branded handset sometimes some handsets will not access the site. |

there are only particular software versions that are compatiable with the live! website, so if you do not have the version then it will not work. What handset do you have and i can have a look for you how you get the software version

It seems odd that Vodafone can lock out their own customers for having an unlocked phone though. Of course, maybe I'm just being cynical... |

I've just got a new Nokia N76 free on contract directly from Vodafone (therefore it's locked on Vodafone too) so I would have thought this would have no problem accessing Live! Bizarrely, I'm having exactly the same problem as Paul. No trouble accessing other websites but cannot get on any of the Live! pages.

vodafone live! is an intelligent system, it detects software vrsions on handsets and offeres specific downloads to what it can detect. So as a result only specific versions of firmware will only be available for download on specific handsets.

the N71 is supported by VF Live!
Must be a problem elsewhere. |

I did some further searching around and came across someone on another forum saying that Vodafone Live! can only be accesed through the 'Contract WAP' or 'PAYG Wap' setting on your Nokia Phone. I had mine set to 'Contract Internet (GPRS), but on changing the connection to WAP it now works fine.

I've just changed my connection to VF Pre WAP and it seems to be loading up at least. No graphics though, just a load of text, but at least that's a lot more than a blank screen!
When I looked at my mate's phone last night, he had multicoloured backdrops and graphics on his when he connected to VF Live. Am I missing something? *edit* I've had a play around with VF Live, and the first thing that impressed me was that it is free! I had to keep disconnecting so that I could check my balance and make sure. I do have another question though - apart from pages and pages of XXX and 18+ links, there was also some football links to free videos and audio clips. Does anyone know if there is an extra charge incurred in actually downloading these files? I couldn't make much sense from the Vodafone website, and I don't have that much credit on my phone to warrant me risking it. |

the reason that you need to use wap is it uses a different apn in which to connect online with
instead of the internet apn it uses wap.vodafone.co.uk for contract customers and pp.vodafone.co.uk for payt customers. |

I went into the Vodafone store yesterday to find out why I wasn't getting any pictures on Vodafone Live. From what they told me, it seemed that the VF Live servers detect which phone you have and adjusts the page layout accordingly to fit the screen. Basically, every phone model that VF has sold past and present has its own default profile on their servers
If, however the phone accessing VF Live is either unbranded (like mine), or unsupported (erm, again, like mine) then only the text is shown because no profile is present. Apparently this is a compromise to allow unbranded/unlocked handsets on the Vodafone tariffs access to VF Live. Still seems a bit odd when BBC News can adjust itself to any screen layout though, and include the pictures. Still, can't complain (yet) because it's not costing me anything to view VF Live. |

What vodafone told you is utter rubbish. I have an unbranded handset and a firmware upgrade fixed the problem for me. You'll find that if you adjust your connection settings to vodafone wap instead of vodafone gprs, you'll be able to get graphics. Don't ask me why... it just works

![]() Can you post (or PM me) the exact settings you have on your phone? I've got a feeling they'll be the same as mine, except I just can't see the graphics! ![]() I might try a firmware update on my phone too. I'm sure there's a newer version of the N71 software on Nokia's site, but I'm somewhat uneasy about doing the update. |

I've not been sent a text yet so I'll have to keep an eye on my credit. |

Yes, it all changes from tomorrow. Vodafone Live will no longer be free to browse. I think they are trying to do their own version of T Mobile's web and walk but from what I have seen so far (and it's not much), T Mobile's deal is much better

I haven't bothered loading it to see if I get charged or not. It did get addictive for a while, but I've killed the settings on my phone now so I don't into VF Live by accident.

I'm on vodafone payg and Vodafone Live is still free, I think the changes happen on Mon June 4th. The Vodafone Live home page says Mobile Internet Coming Soon.

Vodafone Live costs money as of today. The June 4th date was the launch date for the new mobile internet data bundle but it's been put back to 6th June
