30 minutes after she said that it went to £2,200

I can't see any of those bids being honoured by the people who've made them.

Actually, a piece of toast can be viewed as a cultural image.
Anyone inclined to so viewing it would naturally seek to possess it, especially when part of the artistic element (of no less than three unique and unrepeatable marks) is caused by
living beings, directly a part of that culture.
Once viewed as a cultural icon, the symbolism can become quite powerfull.
The requirement to possess it then becomes an act of symbolism itself .
A very British affair.

Have you been mixing with Tracy Emin?

mmmm...

A piece of toast as an allegorical statement about the fleeting nature of celebrity in our society.

It's made out of mundane stuff, bread, gets hot for a while, is devoured, then forgotton

But hey, there'll be another one along tomorrow. We have a toaster !!

I could buy that ( the theory, not the toast )

Just had a look to see who that is - and I now see - ah, could she be the bidder : 'A Breakfast Nude' - here is Tracy Emin adding a bite to breakfast toast.

swing, it might be cheaper to buy the toast.
Individual subjectism and the expression of such unique view
is infinite, and as time is money.... I suggest you bid for that toast!

I wonder if the toast is buttered. If so, it will be minging by now. The Emperor's New Toast springs to mind.

I wonder if Paul Young's put in a bid.

If Alex wants to get out of bed for more than £2000 today, all he has to do is buy the toast and bite it, then put it up to auction again.

The tate modern might put in a bid for the toast if they can beat off rival bids from Charles Saatchi.

Has anyone got a link? I've looked for it repeatedly on e-bay using "toast" "RI:SE" and the names of the biters without success. Even if the auction has finished it should still be there for the next month or so. Unless its a mythical piece of toast/auction, of course.

Auctions that have finished don't show up on searches.

I had a look at it via my history folder and it comes up as 'Invalid Item', i.e. deleted.

I've been buying on e-bay for ages and they certainly do show up - under completed items. And if you've got the link (from bidding on it for instance) you can view them for about a month afterwards.

Has anybody got the link on this? As I said, I tried repeatedly when it was supposed to be active and never found it.

Just unlucky I suppose.

The last time I viewed the price it had gone to £3,100 - Friday I think that was - then it disappeared.

I can't find it either.

I think it's been deleted, all those dodgy bids of 2K+ for a bid of bread.

What's the point if the auction (assuming there ever was one!) is void.

Sounds like a complete con to me.
