Hi-Fi Separates
Wibble
21-06-2000
I am looking to replace my Dolby Pro-logic midi-hifi system with a proper hi-fi separates system in the next month or so.

I have £1000 or so to spend and am looking for something that will be good both for music and home cinema.

Anyone got any recommendations?

Definately get the Sony STR-DB930. Then get a Sony DVP-S725 or 735, and add any extras on to that! This will be an excellent system. As Speakers you should get the Tannoy mercury series

Thanks - I have been looking at the Sony amp and it looks the best by far for my requirements.

You're also forgetting the 930 has two more inputs so if you have loads of separates (like me!!) you don't want to have to put in a switchbox to be able to plug them all in. The seperates build up...mindisc, cd, dvd, tape, sky digital, analogue, video etc etc.

Just for curiosity: What sort of switchbox do you mean? I don't have enough inputs for all my separates (2 tapes, 2 DAT, 2 MD, CD, CD-R, SACD, Sky digital, FTA receiver, ADR, DVD, D-VHS, 2 analogue video, radio, equalizer), so I keep changing the plugs all the time... which is driving me mad... Any suggestions on switchboxes?
