Orange Pay As You Go - Cheapest of all networks?
I'm just looking on the Orange website and see that they have a tariff for PAYG called speakeasy.
Calls are 15p per minute to any network no matter what time of day, texts are 10p and you get 300 free for topping up £10 a month. O2's equal tariff of 300 texts has call charges of 25p for the first 3 minutes, and 40 per min cross network! |

I think it's for new customers only but they are giving away free SIM cards at www.orange.co.uk so you could get a new one with a new number

Not really. T-Mobile is much better if you order a free SIM off their website. 12p a minute to anyone at anytime, 20% back on top ups every month and free unlimited evening and weekend texts if you top up by £10 or more a month.

does existing customers get the 15p anytime promotion also??
One word of caution - make sure you top up AFTER you've changed your tariff. When you change, you'll lose any bonus-topup entitlement for whatever you've put on so far this month. So change the tariff in the evening, and the next morning you'll get an SMS saying your bonus-topup has been setup and giving you the date that you need to top-up by to get the bonus. Only top-up after you get that SMS. I think 15p per minute anytime anynetwork is pretty good. Also with the £1 per day unlimited GPRS, I think Orange are the best all-round provider for PAYG. T-Mobile may be slightly cheaper but Orange have better coverage so the few pence extra is worth it. Having said that - I'll be changing from Orange PAYG to a T-Mobile contract soon because I want to get an HTC TyTN and T-Mobile are easily the cheapest. Orange charge a fortune for the M3100 which is essentially the same phone as the Vario II. |

Well i have used both Orange & T-Mobile and although their crossnet charges are very cheap, that didnt help me at all because most of the people i know are on O2 and it was all adding up.

With Orange offering x net calls for 15p, tmobile 12p, and vodafone 10p off peak (30p up too an hour with stop the clock) surely o2 must look at refreshing their very poor PAYG tariff.

easy because if you get an O2 online payg sim and set it up with the free voice mins instead of free texts, those free mins are to O2 customers only so as long as i stay within the mins, it wont add up because its free
