Why can it not be simple?

We currently have two K750i's on the Online 30 contract from O2, which has reached the end of its minimum period. Wanting two N95's, we called O2 tonight to upgrade, credit card in hand to pay for the phones, and were told that the N95's are out of stock until June 1st - fair enough we said, we'll just order them and they'll arrive in the first week of June - seems that this isn't possible. We were told that we would have to phone back on the 1st of June and order the phones when they are in stock.

What is going to haappen when if we phone on the evening of 1st June and they have run out again - we can't phone any earlier as we are both at work - will we have to phone back and try and catch stock the next time round?

Common sense would suggest that they take our order and our money and send the phones when they arrive, surely?

Or should we think about moving networks (despite being fairly happy with O2) - and if so, who to? Years ago I was with Orange, but I believe that the future isn't so bright with them now?

Supposing you pay your money now and the new phones get delayed on the way to O2 or something or a shortage means O2 can't get hold of any? I don't think you'd be very happy. I'd rather wait and pay in a week or two.

I see your point - the only pain in the bum for us is the hours we work, so we tend to grab an opportunity to sort something out, do it, and then happily wait a few weeks for it to mature.

I suppose I shouldn't be griping, its not as if we're without phones - just that the K750's are getting a bit flaky now, particularly the joysticks - and of course that the N95 looks like a cracker of a phone, and I'm still a wee boy at heart

Many retailers will not take an order for out of stock products. Indeed in some circumstances this can lead to legal problems. I wouldn't blame O2 for your own working hours and impatience. Its hardly surprising that one of the hottest phones around will be out of stock.

Every time o2 have said phones have been out of stock I have asked to cancel my contract, funnily enough I then get put through to retentions who find the phone I want and I get it within a couple of days. Dunno why this works
