So you think O2 is better then this then?”

Tough one really.
evening and weekend texts.....I text a lot from work through the week so would need to pay for that.

Dont use the internet on phone much as mine is crap.

Generally my credit just builds up. The 300 messages is enough for me, I rarely go over it and only eat away a little of the call credit. Just now my balance is about £31

The trouble is when this gets to £50 odd I tend to think it's a lot to lose if I lose my phone (someone gaining £50 credit) so I usually go and skip a month on O2. This maybe happens twice a year. Overall my O2 top ups are £100 year.

I honestly feel with my usage I am on the best network/tarrif.
If you use the net a lot then the one you mention probably is.

Everyones diferent i guess. Personally I don't text much in the day mainly at evening and weekends and I use the internet everyday. All depends on how you use your phone

Its true that different people will find different tariffs cheaper. O2s problem is that they don't offer a range of tariffs to suit different people. Where is the £1 internet option? Where is the cheap cross-net option? Where is the cheap texts option?
I'm not saying these should all be in the same tariff, but they should offer them.

O2 charge 25p to other O2 mobiles and landlines for the first 3 minutes, then it goes down to 5p a minute, which isn't so bad if you're making a lot of calls to the same network in one day. But if you make less than 3 minutes of calls a day, that's 75p for 3 minutes to the SAME network!

And 40p a minute to call another network is daylight robbery.

I wish I could get my phone unlocked, but as it's a blasted BB5 Nokia it can only be done by O2, and they won't unlock it until after 12 months.

Once you use up your O2 treat of 15 mins that is !!

Like others have said. Everyone will be different depending no their useage. Thats also why some people like contract phones too.

O2 also seem to do this one, although not much cop for me...

Favourite place

Enjoy 500 minutes to call UK landlines and O2 mobiles anytime of the day or night from your favourite postcode area with our new great value tariff.

Available to all our Pay & Go customers, just top up by £10 a month or more and the 500 minutes are yours every single month.

Switching to Favourite Place is easy. Text your postcode i.e AL19PR to 22204 free or call 2425 free from your mobile phone or click the link below and we'll do the rest.

Only to other O2's and landlines. Vodafone's Stop The Clock applies to ALL networks, and not just from your postcode. O2 really are crap

Thats what I like about T-Mobile you have options of xnet calls, cheap texts or cheap same net calls and you always have 20p MMS, £1 internet and 20% back. They are messing me about at the moment though but I should imagine it'l be sorted soon.

EDIT: Just check and my problems have been sorted

£10 will get you unlimited evening and weekend texts

Everyone price plan will get you 12p a min calls to any network and 10p texts

Mates rats will get you 5p a min calls and 5p texts to other tmobiles and 10p texts and 20p a min calls to other networks

Text appeal will get you 3p texts to any network at any time I dunno how much the calls each minute are though I should imagine they are not cheap though.

But you can switch price plan any time as much as you want and you wont lose your free texts you ge them on all price plans even if you change back and forth.

If I'm wrong on anythin someone correct me please.

The only snag i have with O2 is the fact that i cant use my email account on the move and those balance alerts that come up when you send a text or end an outgoing call. They can turn them off but they wont do it by email and i cant be bothered to ring them or go to the shop just for that

Really? When I was on O2 about 2 years ago I email them and asked them to turn it off cos it wound me up proper and they did it. You'd think there would be a number or sometjhing to call like you can to turn voicemail off.

Yeah it is annoying and i wish there was a way to turn it off like you suggested. The reason i cant access my email on it is because they dont have proper mobile internet on payg

Annoying hey. You'd think they'd pay more attentio to what the competition offers and try and match it at least.

If everyone reading this thread emailed O2 and demanded unrestricted internet access on PAYG, nothing would change!!!!

I wish O2 would use the message delivery setup. I think you can force it on a per message scenario but not as a default.

The "favourite place" tarrif isn't a bad one on paper provided most of your calls are on-net or to landlines. A while back I took on the Home 100 blot-on and through careful study of the cell broadcast codes could identify when my "home postcode" kicked in, which meant I could identify two O2 base stations which when on them gave me the "home" call - the nearest one to me and then another one some 10 miles away! Came to a bizzare point where I was able to make a home call in a location 20 miles away from my own house!

Favourite Place is quite reasonable as a option against a landline if you are not going to need ADSL broadband. If you're in a favourable enough area, you could use O2 PAYG Favourite Place for your regular calls and T-Mobile Web & Walk in a 3G area from general internet use.

I emailed O2 about their data charges, and was told they have no plans to change them, but that this might change in the next quarter. (July to September). Isn't it amazing that O2 should be lagging so far behind other networks?
I've got myself a T-Mobile SIM so O2 will be missing out on my data use until they sort it.

I have a spare unused T-Mobile sim in the drawer and a Orange one on its way

I think its clear from all the posts on this subject O2 need to make some changes, soon. I would certainly consider returning to O2 if they got there act together, maybe they should read some of the messages here.

I think you are right.

Someone should email them a link to this thread but I bet they still won't give a sh*t lol

My opinion is that when O2 was taken over by telefonica they lost touch with the market in this country, becoming more concerned with 'branding'. (What on earth are they doing spending all that money on The O2?)
Until they sort themselves out, i'll stick with favourite place and a T-Mobile SIM for internet on the go and cross net calls.

Yea o2 have become quite bad recently. I did think they were still the best option for me but looking at t-mobile and orange now theyre actually pretty good.

I also noticed I now only get 15 free mins o2 treat instead of 25 mins i got before and from what i remember i've been topping up the same amount of money each month so they must be reducing the treats.

I don't like the tariff (25p first 3 mins then 5p min) at all, it just seems to eat my money completely but i had to switch to that to get 500 texts for £15 a month.
