Quote from that article:-

"However long-term fame has proved rather elusive for many Big Brother contestants - only those with a talent for TV presenting have survived in the public eye."

Recognition at last for Kate's talents.

Did anyone see Vernon on Wossy last night. They were talking about a fly on the wall TV series that Vernon did about 5 years ago when he was starting out as a young model.

I wonder if Alex ever appeared in that as one of his friends ?

Does anyone have any further details about Vernon's fly on the wall series. Did you catch the title swing ?

I think I've very vague memory of this but I can't remember any details though. Vernon was pretty much the same then as he is now. I think Vernon became a TV presenter soon after doing this.

Vernon won Model of the Week on The Big Breakfast, so it may have something to do with that, I don't know.

Someone on BBC website compared Vernon to Vermin, which is a bit harsh !

Sorry, I don't remember the name and can't find much on google, apart from this ( about halfway down )

I do note that he was with Select, which was Alex's agency I think

If you are desperate to learn more, Wossy's show is repeated tonight/tomorrow morning at 1.20 am. Vernon was first guest on and they showed I think 2 clips from the documentary.

Thanks for the link & the info swing. Not really that desperate to find out more, more a case of being annoyed with myself for remembering nothing about it!

Yes, Alex and Vernon were with Select at the same time.

I dont begrudge talentless people making money out of being a celeb, any more than I begrudge talentless people winning the lottery. Its all down to the same thing..luck and being in the right place at the right time.

That's true...but the lottery is hope on the side of the contributor that it will be themselves that win...with celebs it is total slavish devotion on the part of the money giver with no hope of ever getting anything in return..unless it's to see the object of their devotion in a new pair of shoes......

Sounds like the philosophy of someone who never buys a lottery ticket and never goes anywhere.

The problem I have with her is that she has all that money and yet she wants to be considered a good actress so why doesn't she pay for some acting lessons?

Low expectations, Meso

How about a luxury flat for themselves and one for their mum, a shiny expensive car, a showbiz boyfriend, a brand new chubby baby.........

On the other hand some devoted fans are happy for a glance of their hero in a sleeveless T-shirt

A lot of people live their lives vicariously and gain great joy from following their heroes and heroines, wether they be entertainers, polical and social leaders, sports stars or mere reality show "celebs"

Reflected glory might be second rate, but it's better than no glory at all

That's all very well swing...... as long as the celebs, the contestants, their managements & their fans do not think, not even for one minute, that they can pull the wool over our eyes, that we have been either bought or fooled by their actions, declarations, game plans, motives, PR people etc etc.

We are watching, and as Mesos often says, if they dare raise their heads over the parapet we will hold then strictly to account. Only honesty is acceptable....... the difference between the 'Sandys' of this world and the 'Jonnys' !!! A rule that must be applied to all aspects of public life.

I'm talking about the people who go through that public examination and come out the other end with some credibility intact, not necessarily as shining examples of perfection, who is ? but as people worthy of others' admiration ( this might be a subjective call, leaving plenty of room for arguments !!, eg Sandy ? )

There is a great deal of pleasure, interest and excitement involved in being a fan. Ask the Angels !!!

On the whole I think it is unlikely that any really admirable people will come out of anything as tawdry as BB, but Alex might make it

I'm not sure that leading a full and interesting life yourself and being happy to see someone you like and admire do the same have to be mutually exclusive! But its your life swing, of course, you must live it as you wish.

On Alex and Vernon, I doubt that they knew each other well 5 years ago when Vernon was in this programme - which I've never heard of by the way. Alex is a lot younger than Vernon remember. He'd hardly be 19 then.
