Its not a great song at all, not hugely better than Daniels Evergreen, so im VERY concerned for Lee

Those two have to be the worst performances of the series by a long way.

I think I saw the exit interview with Antony on youtube...he said that he had only learnt falsetto that week () and after he mucked up on the first one he knew he was leaving. I felt sorry for him then....

Don't be Rachey27, he has half the musical theatre world knocking on his agents door I bet

That's the thing though, I'm not sure if I think Ben is suitable for Joseph. Also that is the initial reason I liked Chris B as he immediately struck me as being suitable for the part.

Oh me too, it was clear from the start that he couldnt sing the high notes in songs, bless him. and he seemed so upset in the exit interview

Regarding Chris B - i thought he was fantastic, he had a beautiful voice and i though he should have got further, further than some that are still in the competition!

Trixie - i hope you are right. I just worry after what happened with daniel lastweek when he got a poor song.

Absolutely. JB and Denise had really high hopes for him too I thought, but when you look at his songs he was doomed from the start really. I know its all in the interpratation, but what the heck can you do with All Night Long by Lionel Ritchie. tsk. I liked Teeth

Back to Ben. I still worry that he is too insecure vocally. On the one hand I think that they probably wouldn't have put anyone through who couldn't handle the actual Joseph music (which lets face it, isn't exactly the most challenging out there). On the other, it is probably fair to say that Ben is the worst singer left in the competition (although in the last few weeks, there hasn't been an awful lot to pick between him, Craig and Lewis). But as ALW himself has said, this isn't a singing competition.

I probably value the acting/performance more than most people on this forum (which is why I wouldn't let Keith within a hundred yards of this part ) And this is where Ben has really come through for me, he is a born entertainer and shows so much personality and energy on stage. In this respect, I don't think anyone left holds a candle to him (with the obviously exception of Lee). I though Ben was absolutely superb in the 'that's life' trio last week, I couldn't take my eyes off him. He is a far, far superior actor to Keith, Craig or Lewis, and for me, this is an important consideration.

Is he vocally strong enough? I guess we'll see on saturday.

I agree that the song choice makes a masive difference. (I know people have been saying this for weeks, but it has only really sunk in with me after Daniel's exit last Sat. )

Giving Antony that song was like handing him a gun and waiting for him to shoot himself. I wasn't a great fan of his, but you can't help wondering if some of the other less experienced guys would have done equally badly with the same song.........was it deliberate planning do you think, or just unfortunate for him?

Do they josephs not have ANY say in the songs though? Surely if Anthony thought theres 100% no way he could pull it off, he could refuse to sing it?

i totally agree with you. i have always championed Ben but extremely worried about his vocals. Cying by Roy orbison is not the easiest song to sing even for those with an amazing range- it might be bye bye Ben unless he can pull off the KD lang version in a much lower register and hit us with emotion. Roll on tomorrow but there is no denying this guy has star quality and stage presence and if not joseph he will go far

Well no I wasn't either, but I remember the selections and he had a beautiful voice. Stunning. We didn't get to see it really though.

I've liked one from the beginning and the others have all gone up, down, round and round.... Theres a vote there for the second favourite of the night, but it depends on the songs and how they do with it. I'd blooming vote the lot if I could. Fantastic series this has been - just look at the number of posts in the ADWD forum compared to Grease. Speaks volumes doesn't it

I think after last week Lee's fans will be voting like crazy, he's clearly got far more support than anyone else, going on all the boards and ALW wouldn't vote him off anyway, so I really wouldn't worry. And Daydream Believer is a lovely song. If I were a Lee fan, I would be praying though that somebody else has a great night and a fantastic performance - it doesn't do him any good if it looks as if he won because ALW got rid of all the serious competition.

Agree that Ben will go if he gets in the last two, but I will be really, really sad if he does. I agree with LaurieMarlow he's a great performer, such energy, and I think Craig and Ben deserve huge credit for having improved so much. I may be in a tiny minority on here but I really like both of them.

I'm v cynical about the whole process; although I am enjoying it in the same way as people like watching wrestling. They know it's a fix but love it anyway.

Sadly, ALW has 99% made up his mind who he wants. He now is in process of getting rid of those he doesn't want.

Here's how it works:

2 weeks ago he wanted rid of Lee and was discussing it with Zoe. Unfortunately for these schemers, Lee overheard it and said "Why did you shay I needed to leave right now?"

Zoe is a quick thinker and said: "Lee babes, you heard wrong, your song this week is Will Young's Leave Right Now".

ALW admired Zoe's quick thinking and they plotted to get rid of Rob the Builder instead.

When you're doing a Reality TV show there's a handbook you can get hold of; and one of the tried and tested methods of dispatching a competitor is to give the poor person a song by a classic artist that no poor soul can get near; hence Born to Run for Rob, and the rest is history...

Bearing the above in mind, I wonder if that's why they gave Lee 'Paint in Black'? Classic Stones but Lee pulled it off. They already knew Lee could do moody with 'Bad Day' so why give him this song? However, I'm glad they did!

But also by giving Daniel what they did, and then hurling insults at him, it pretty much nailed his coffin.

Anyway, back to the thread... I think the question is really who does ALW really want?

Keith & Craig - no because most of their votes are either from Scotland (too far for most fans to travel) or Tescos (Tesco workers do not fit the demographic of Theatre goers). However, keep Craig in as long as poss as he's their 'Journey' story and TV makers like that.

Lewis - useful pawn for getting rid of others. Keep him as long as useful. If Ben is favourite, use him again to get rid of Lee, then ditch him. Never gonna be Joseph.

Ben - v possibly ALW favourite, but PR says he has a diff song this week. This can work in his favour though. If he fluffs it... "Poor Ben, v diff song, the songs in Joseph are easier so please don't be harsh on him" and if he does well.... "Didn't he do well? tough song, etc etc"

Lee - GBP favourite, Bookie's favourite, but the GBP are stupid and don't know what they want, so it could be in ALW's great scheme to get rid of Lee when they can. If he's EVER in the bottom 2, he's out. Even if the other person just howled like a wolf, ALW would save him, rather than Lee.

There could be a silver lining for Lee though and a double whammy for ALW... If he can get Ben to win Joseph he can then use Lee (formerly an 'unknown') to star in another of his shows without having to go through all the hassle and perhaps additional expense, of getting another celeb for the other show.

By doing these Reality TV shows, ALW is building up his own little stockroom of stars that he can pick and choose cheaply and easily in the future.

Obviously Daniel & ShameUs were past their 'Best before dates' but the rest'll keep for a year or so if he stores them carefully!

it really has been a great show, SO much better than grease.

I think IF lee goes this week though, ill totally lose interest. seeing as 2 of my faves have left already

Craigs 'journey' is interesting, but it takes more than a good 'story' to get me voting. I adore his voice. People see it as nasally, it is sometimes, but only because he's never had singing lessons and his voice hasn't been 'opened' enough for theatre yet. (He needs his chest voice brought to the fore)

Craigs' doing it for me though, and to me he is a delight on that stage. Look at how emotional the judges were after This Is The Moment - it shows what the man is capable of doing to an audience. I was in floods !

He certainly was better last week yes - i don't hate ben for the record, as i don't know him. i do think he isn't overly talented though, I also think he has done some terrible performances over which he should have gone home. His performance of all by myself was equally as bad as anthonys patience, and he went home, so i think ben should ahve done too for doing a shockingly bad performance. i think he seems to have a bad attitude, and i think it is a shame that he has stayed in the comp when more talented people have left. that does not mean i "hate" him, how can you hate someone you don't know! i just am not a "fan" of ben, simple.

whatever reality talent tv show you watch, it always happens, some of the most talented go becuase some people vote for who they fancie, or who seems nice, who they feel sorry for etc.

Yes sorry about that! If you go to the main Lee thread they're having Friday night cocktails which is quite civilised and gives plenty of opportunity for poorly masked smut!

It shocks me how certain people are still in the show when the really talented ones have left. but like you say, i think the GBP have the image in their mind - and Lewis looks like a joseph.
