I thought his comments about the other singers were lovely. Obviously he wanted to sing more 'theatre' songs. Very honest of him to admit how much he hated his performance of 'Since You've Been Gone'.

It's a good interview, and what I like about him is that he is and has always been honest - and (I hate to use this word) nice

I wish him every success ... I for one will what to go and see him in whatever show he does next.

I am really impatient to hear what shows he has been auditioning for. Seems the one he went to the other day is something he is very keen to do.

What a great interview, he comes accross really well.

Totally agree with his comments about ALW as well, i thought he was really out of order last week.

interesting comments about how loud the band are in the studio etc

Thanks for posting that. Interesting that he said:

"But I hope the public picks someone that can do it!"

Two interesting comments here

They are not encouraged to listen back to their performances and hard to hear if they are flat with the loudness of the band. Very Interesting

oh and another one - the panel are fed their comments

Very interesting and enlightening interview. I thought on the day (and said here) that, like Chris B, the moment Daniel heard he was in the sing-off, he knew that was it - that he wouldn't be saved.

Yes, I agree with you - the colour absolutely drained out of his face, but he went on to sing really beautifully.

A really informative and well written interview - not surprised to hear that the panel are fed some of their comments .....they never sound very spontaneous. (Although, in all fairness, maybe it's not that easy to think of witty and incisive things to say on the spur of the moment - you can't really have them sitting there umming and ahhing.)

I wonder how long JB was practising his "beige" comment!

Fantastic interview by Daniel, i'm so happy things are really working out for him. Also great to see that his profile has been kept really high since Saturday

The beige comment just had to be one that they'd planned on as Daniel said. It just looks so rehearsed, so however Daniel had sung, he would of got the comment methinks.

Fantastic and really informative interview, although it seems like the more I find out about this TV show, the more cynical I become about it.

It actually seems quite difficult for them. Their lives sound incredibly... regimented while they're in the Joseph house. I don't think I'd be able to do it. I also didn't realise the "missions" take a whole day. As they only end up as a 5 minute VT, it seems like a waste of a day to me.

Quite frankly I think ALW had decided it was curtains for Daniel before the show had begun last week. He was already down to six and had a good idea who he wanted for the final. I really don't believe his comments were based on Daniel's performance (which I believe was the best he would do with 'Evergreen' and sung beautifully). If the panel are fed lines and he was unnecessarily harsh, (even retracting a great comment he had made the week before) it had been decided before the programme, to make these comments to detract the floating voter from voting. The same thing happened with Rob and Chris B. That, along with some dodgy telephone lines ensured this. No wonder Daniel feels sore about it. I suppose if ALW had simply said, "actually Daniel - I don't think you look like a Joseph, you look too mature", he (or the television makers)probably would have been worried about looking stupid (i.e. worried the viewers might have thought, why put him in in the first place if that is the way you feel?). They couldn't risk that.

These programmes are very contrived. As long as ALW gets who he wants in the end (which I am sure will be Lee) he will be happy. I have television experience and I am certain the rest are there to make up a story i.e Rob the builder (who we knew would never be Joseph), Jondeep (nice Asian guy, family have never heard him sing), Seamus (older one - a bit arrogant). Trying to get them to bitch about each other for the camera (when Daniel states they all got on well) is another part of it. It is simply to add light and shade and to make entertaining television.

On the positive side though, as he states, it has been the most wonderful showcase and his sing-off I feel was the highlight of the series - where he actually proved what he is capable of (finally he was given a brilliant song - albeit in the sing-off). I am absolutely certain he is going to do really well and will certainly see him in anything he does.

Thats a very interesting interview.

I'm not suprised that the sound is awful in the studio, I remember one of the Marias saying she couldn't hear the band or herself sing (which was why one of her last notes was completly out of tune), but that was on the first show. You would think after two series of this they would have sorted it out by now.

Another thing I remember from the Maria show, is an interview with Abi not long after her and Aoife went out. She said they both saw their eviction coming because it was made obvious during the week that they weren't really wanted there. (Paraphrasing but it was something like that). This show is just incredibly contrived IMO.

I agree with you about it being contrived. ALW obviously knows how the voting is going and is able to make his songchoices for each singer with that in mind for the following week. He already has his Joseph in mind and he must feel he cant take any chances with anyone else threatening to upset the final decision. Seems that Daniel must have been aware of the fact that he was not favoured by ALW as I felt that as soon as he was announced as bottom two he had already resigned himself to the fact he was leaving.

I am sure Daniel also saw it coming in the week before. Interestingly I don't know if you have seen The Mail today but there is a Weekend supplement with the boys on the front (including Daniel). They obviously intended to run it last week but it was delayed!!

Daniel once more in "The Stage" Interview shows clearly how professional he is while having a real warmth.

The number of colleagues who have spoken to me within the music/theatre industry who have said they have so much respect for Daniel and rate him highly shows that ALW has perhaps only damaged the way people look at him!

Several people have commented about the sound level of the band in the studio - how loud it is! and how the sound mix is not that good with vocals and music.

Congratulations to DANIEL I am sure he will have news for us soon.

So true. It's sometimes difficult to actually hear some of them singing above the band.

that's exactly what I thought...it was as though we were watching different shows - very confusing

Yes it was very enlightening! Much better than alot of the other random snippits we've had. I found it very interesting, from both a fan's and a cultural researcher's point of view!
