Great interview. Much more interesting than most. Backs up a lot of what we have been saying on here. Maybe we're not so daft after all.

If the panel are fed lines and he was unnecessarily harsh, (even retracting a great comment he had made the week before) it had been decided before the programme, to make these comments to detract the floating voter from voting. The same thing happened with Rob and Chris B. That, along with some dodgy telephone lines ensured this. No wonder Daniel feels sore about it. I suppose if ALW had simply said, "actually Daniel - I don't think you look like a Joseph, you look too mature", he (or the television makers)probably would have been worried about looking stupid (i.e. worried the viewers might have thought, why put him in in the first place if that is the way you feel?). They couldn't risk that.

These programmes are very contrived. As long as ALW gets who he wants in the end (which I am sure will be Lee) he will be happy. I have television experience and I am certain the rest are there to make up a story i.e Rob the builder (who we knew would never be Joseph), Jondeep (nice Asian guy, family have never heard him sing), Seamus (older one - a bit arrogant). Trying to get them to bitch about each other for the camera (when Daniel states they all got on well) is another part of it. It is simply to add light and shade and to make entertaining television.

On the positive side though, as he states, it has been the most wonderful showcase and his sing-off I feel was the highlight of the series - where he actually proved what he is capable of (finally he was given a brilliant song - albeit in the sing-off). I am absolutely certain he is going to do really well and will certainly see him in anything he does.”

I completely agree with what you say Kym, particularly that the panel's comments are intended to steer voting in a particular way.

A very interesting interview, thanks Scott

Yeah, I agree, Daniel's comments on the way the panel are fed lines was particularly interesting. I'm getting pretty sick of this manipulation to be honest, and I have half a mind to vote for whoever the panel come down heaviest on tonight.

Oh and thank you Scott, loved the article
