Hi All,

A few months back I had all of the boars in my HD-D45 changed due to audio bleedthrough from the analogue tuner when using scart inputs. To cut a long story short, I've connected the component out of my DVD player to the TV and it's not playing ball, I'm getting a "No signal" message. It did work but not used it for a while. No sound or audio.

If I route the audio feed into another unused input, I can hear it. It seems as if the TV isn't recognising the input at all. It's enabled etc, I know what I'm doing and I'd really appreciate any suggestions as to what's going on before I contact Sagem on Monday. I was wondering if there are any service menu's that I might be able to check to see if it's enabled as a source with in the TV itself?

Cheers

Sounds like you need to go in to the players video settings and configure it for component output.

Component doesn't carry audio, it only carries the video element. You will need to source the audio from elsewhere, this can either be by optical/coaxial if you have an amp/receiver or the audio outputs.

Hi TommyW - Thanks, OK on that one - I've got the Y, Pb, Pr connected to the set along with Left and Right audio and they are connected correctly.

I would expect the TV to at least present the audio when I select the Component input which is why I'm wondering if the Progressive input isn't enabled as an input to the AV processing subsystem.

Does sound like it's the Player to me, even if you had the leads in the wrong way round you would still get a picture.

So you have configured the DVD player to output component?

Some players require you you to switch outputs, this may be a dedicated output, some can ask you to select RGB or even S-Video for it to be able to output component. Just saying this as you mentioned you previously had scart connected.

Unsure about the audio to whether audio would be heard or not with the TV is showing no signal, would have thought the audio would be present even though there was no video.

What's the make of the player?

Might be worth a re-check in the players audio menu, just to make sure stereo playback is selected.

What's the make of the player?

I'd make absolultly sure that in the options menu The SPDIF Sourse ONLY MARRIES UP WITH AV5 IF you have a the Spdif conneted from your AV5 source.

if the SPdif Source is set to av5 and you don't have it connected you'll get no sound!!

If it is, it will only loop through Dolby digital to the SPDIF out, it will not be heard through the Tv's speakers. Only PCM sound will be heard though the TV speaker, if you want this you will need to configure the SPDIF out on your player to only output stereo PCM.

Also The SPDIF out will output what ever you are watching on the TV selected if you set a SPDIF source.

Cheers all - the thing that makes me think that there's a problem with the TV is that the audio isn't being routed - not using SPDIF, just line in.

DVD is configured for component out and it has worked in the past prior to having all of the boards changed for a different reason. I've just not used it since.
