In fairness Ben had by far the hardest song to sing tonight. He isn't the best vocally but he is the most charismatic and is a joy to watch during the up tempo songs. He is a born performer.

Craig on the other hand is an ok singer and an ok performer - certainly nothing special. He has been punching well above his weight for the past few weeks and has done well to get this far. Tonight was definitely his time to go.

But singing is the main requirement as joseph is mostly sung - not straight acted.

I'm glad you said that, because I totally agree. I didn't get the vulnerability thing at all!

Andrew wants him for a sunbeam (sorry Joseph), he said he's going for youth, I thought it was Lewis but I have changed my mind.

Ben's performance of Crying was so painfully bad and amateurish that it wouldn't stand up in a school production and for that he should have been evicted, the public clearly thought so. I think part of the format of the show though, is for ALW to 'surprise' us by going against the obvious choice - he did so last week and really it doesn't matter in the end as none of Daniel, Lewis Craig and Ben would win it in the end, Lee will obviously win it.

No, but do you really want to pay £50 to listen to a Joseph with a rather weak voice who has trouble staying in tune?

If its Ben then yeah! And I think he would be fine vocally.

But to be fair I would pay to see 3 of the 4 left.

You seem to fancie ben, not the most educated reason to pay money to see a musical is it. i think talent is more important.

All I can say is that it must be nice to be so easily pleased.

So do I. If it was just that i fancied him I'd look at his picture. I wouldn't pay £50 plus travel costs from Scotland just cos I fancy someone. I happen to think he's an amazing performer.

Ben has confidence on stage and for some they see this as arrogance - a very British trait since we don't like seeing people who are good at something and celebrate the fact

Ben is a great performer and importantly is very natural on stage. He just goes with the flow. Compare this to Keith who never looks comfortable up there and consequently makes the audience feel uncomfortable watching him. Ben's style of performance is very much 'stage' whereas Craig's style was more 'vocal performer' - all his moves were in the style of a pop performer doing the song, not an actor. Therefore it seems easy to see why Ben, despite his weaker voice, stayed in. You've got to act within the song and make the stage your own, not just sing nicely - for me only Lee and Ben manage to get the performance aspect right.

I was giggling throughout the song remembering the episode of F&H were a cabaret singer who couldn't pronounce his 'r's [a la Jonathon Ross] had to sing Cwying.

People MUST be easily pleased if they are willing to pay to see ben after his vocal disaster tonight!

I don't have a problem with confidence or even arrogance on stage, but I don't like the way Ben can't take criticism off stage and seems astonished when he gets it - it really doesn't bode well.

I don't find him arrogant at all. He's had to be tough as he's been in the sing off a few times so knows he's not that popular with the public.

He shows emotion when he needs to, he dances well and hes' confident when performing especially more upbeat songs.

He does struggle in ballads as there are a few bum notes - and he can't do that when he's up against singers like Lee who are note perfect.

I still think he's a right to be there over Craig who annoys me with that lip-smacking thing all the time and ALW is right that Craig still has that club/pop singer and he always sings that way - that isn't right for musical theatre. I also think Ben is better than Lewis who should have gone a couple of weeks back.

They're all going to come second to Lee anyway - it's so obvious he is the chosen one.

Gutted Craig went, IMO it should have been Ben. Quick question - I didn't see John Barrowman after Craig was sent packing - did he walk off?

also, ben is not a great singer at all, how will he improve if he just pulls faces when any critism comes his way!

I have to agree with you. All along the line it's been obvious how the show was going to pan out, and it's slowly drawing to the inevitable conclusion that most people feel it will.

Lee is bound to be the winner because there's no way that ALW or anyone with money invested in the West End show are going to risk anyone taking the lead if they lack the necessary experience. It's a business venture after all, not a game.

come on, he's not that good ........

That's my worry - at least the others seem to take criticism on board, but Ben either seems to protest or just turn his nose up at it.
